Description:-
Front Cover:
Kaleidoscope picture of the band. The title, "PINK FLOYD" is at bottom center. EMI logo in upper left corner. Laminated flip back cover. Please see photos! I would grade this cover MINT with the exception of the mildest laminate crease on the middle right. I have tried to highlight this in picture 10 but it is so faint that the HD photo cannot pick it up! The Laminated front cover is crisp and clean. Overall condition is M-. Any who knows or have seen these covers would know how incredibly difficult is is to find these in superbe condition! This cover has mega super glossy laminate appearance! Absolutely stunning appearance! There are no splits or tares and only if scrutinised can the minor crease be noticed! This cover must grade at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion, apart from very very minor crease would be very near perfect indeed!
Back Cover:
Title, credits, and song listing. Catalogue number in upper right corner.
Un-laminated except for flip backs. On the bottom flip back it says "6709 TPS Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London SX 6157 / SCX 6157."
Inner Sleeve: Black and white inner sleeve. On the front is the EMI logo at the top centre, with "Add these outstanding LPs to your collection" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including Both Sides of Herman's Hermits, and "Remember-the new Emitex cleans and preserves your records," and "Patents applied for" at the bottom. On the back side is the EMI logo at the top centre, with " - the greatest recording organization in the world" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including the Beatles-Revolver, and "E.M.I. Records (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) Hayes - Middlesex - England, Made and Printed in Great Britain" at the bottom. Later issues have different LPs pictured, such as the Beach Boys-Pet Sounds, and do not show albums by the Beatles or Herman Hermits. This origional sleeve is NEAR MINT at over 40 years old and looks like it could have been printed yesterday. Please see photos of both sides! I hesitate to even call it a creae but there is a slight bend of the paper on the top left of the sleeve which can faintly be seen in photo 4.
Label:
Black Columbia label with silver text, and a blue "Columbia Records Magic Notes Trademark" at the top, and a blue "Columbia" in the centre. Underneath the blue "Columbia" it says "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists."
Note: Some copies of this release have the song titles on the label in a larger font than other releases.
At the bottom of the label, it says "Made in Gt. Britain."
Text around the bottom edge of the label starts at 10 o'clock and says:
The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorized public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited.Tax Stamp:
On side 1 within the circle that is stamped around the spindle hole are the letters "K" and "T," one on each side of the spindle hole.
Both Labels are almost Mint, just a few tiny spindle marks visible only when scrutinised. These are the original 1st issue track labels! Being primarily black in color, are so difficult to find in superbe condition! These labels are almost perfect in fact only angled to the light can barely be seen a handful of spider marks only and absolutely no visable ware around the spindle hole! The hole is perfectly round! SEE PHOTOS!
The Vinyl:-
The Vinyl is almost Mint, played just a handful of times if that. This is the original thick and chunky slab of vinyl, only found on the earliest pressings! On initial inspection this vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of warps or warping! This vinyl looks indeed like new in my opinion! Even on close scutiny I can't even see a blemish at all, quite amaizinly non of the usual scuffs even! But to be honest I can't see a blemish! (so rare to ever find on a 40 year old album original beleive me)!!!
The Audio:-
I have play tested this album at very loud volume on a top system! This audio is absolutely perfect throughout! (No) distortion clicks or pops and not even a touch of background static at all during this awesome audio! Absolutely stunning rich and vibrant, I havn't heard anything better! I can assure anyone that these earliest mono pressings will never be surpassed in any other format ever! In fact I am going to grade the audio as perfect as I heard it on my systems, even when played at very loud volume! Even between tracks on the run off grooves is almost silent, like a new vinyl! It is very important to note that this vinyl has only ever had a bare handful of plays ever, if that! (These 40 year old originals rarely ever turn up in this extraordinary condition!!! The audio is graded as near to mint as it gets! For a 40 year old Pink Floyd vinyl is almost impossible to ever find!
Please note! I will add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl, that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system!!! MINTaudio throughout on my system! To be honest the vinyl played as new absolutely perfect on my systems!! Points to note - This has been stored for at least 30 years! A build up of dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks ! A constant clean is recomended before each play!
