Description

This A1/B1 first press of Obscured By Clouds is in wonderful condition and the audio is on a par with the best I have heard.  What makes this LP all the more rare is that it still retains the "La Vallee" on the front cover.

The vinyl has been hardly played and under a bright light I cannot detect any hairlines or scratches at all.  It retains the glossy sheen of a new vinyl and it plays like it!  The vinyl is so clear it honestly looks brand new - no marks etc and the run out grooves look as clean as the day it was released.  No spindle wear at all - I would say the vinyl has hardly been handled let alone played!
The audio on Side One is so clear and precise it sounds almost as new.  There is barely any crackle and what you can hear is absolutely minimal and does not detract from the audio.  I only heard one click on 'The Gold it's in the...'.  The clarity is stunning and has obviously hardly been played.  Very near silence between tracks also!
Side Two begins with 'Childhood's End' which does of course have a very quiet intro.  Here there is a light crackle and 3/4 clicks but it soon disappears and the audio is then rich and clear with no background noise at all.  The remainder of the side plays superbly with just one or two very light clicks.  A good indicator of the quality of any vinyl is how well it plays during the quieter moments and the intro to 'Stay' and the whole of 'Absolutely Curtains' play with a wonderful clarity that is so rare for a vinyl of this age.  There are just 3 light clicks right at the end, apart from that they play with almost Mint quality.   
The textured cover is also in excellent condition.  It has slight shelf wear around the edges but is still a great example of this cover and still has the rare "La Vallee" sticker which only the early run of first presses had.  It just has one small mark on the front as can be seen in one of the photos.  The thin pinched spine is perfectly legible and is very clean as is the opening edge and being a first press it of course has the rounded corners.    On the reverse in the upper right corner it has 'SHSP 4020 (IE 062 05054) and in the lower left corner it says '7206 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd SHSP 4020'
It comes complete with the polylined Harvest inner sleeve with 'Patent Nos 1,125,555 and 1,072,844' at the bottom.    
The yellow/green Harvest labels are in stunning condition and there is no spindle wear at all testament to the fact that this record has been barely played.
