Impossible To Find as a Fully Complete UK 1st Press in **Near Mint** Aural & Visual Condition!!!

Here is another gem from my own mostly Nr Mint personal collection (which I am selling off gradually to lessen the pain... ) I have been collecting very rare vinyl for a long time now. As a collector, I have been very critical about the condition of the records I have chosen to buy over the years, and only selected the most pristine 1st pressings from all over the UK.  My collection is therefore filled with not only the rarest UK 1st pressings, but also records of the highest grade quality condition, some of the best you will probably ever come across. Sadly, all will be finding new homes in the near future. As I said, I am very strict with my grading, so when I describe a record as Nr Mint - you can rest assured that it will be a true Nr Mint record (I never grade any records as Mint because Mint does not exist in the world of vintage vinyl - in my opinion, as soon as the record has been taken home from the store it is no longer Mint!!) I hope you enjoy my listings.

Just look at those matrix numbers... You are about to bid on a very, very special record. It is a record that in my opinion is harder to find as a true complete UK 1st pressing than even the solid blue prism label Dark Side of The Moon UK 1st press. It is a stunning **Near Mint** example of the earliest UK 1st pressing of Wish You Were Here. A truly amazing record worthy of only the most serious Pink Floyd collection. As so many copies of this record were pressed worldwide, sorting out the very rare UK 1st pressing amidst all the later & foreign pressings has become extremely confusing, especially as there are so many sellers who delight in deliberately trying to pass off later re-presses as 'UK 1st pressings'. Please read on as I am going to describe what makes this record so vary rare... Aside from being the cleanest looking *Near Mint* UK 1st I have ever seen, there are a number of other features that identify this record as a truly special record worthy of inclusion on my eBay pages.

Firstly let's begin with the inner sleeve. This record comes complete with the correct 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse heavy carded & rounded edge die-cut picture inner sleeve. This is a very important feature to note as it was the only inner sleeve that came with the 1st pressing. Inner sleeves with clipped/square edges and/or made from thin paper are from later and non-UK pressings!!! This particular 1st Issue inner is is spectacular condition with bright vivid colouration and NONE of the grubbiness that is so common with this sleeve. Secondly and equally important is the postcard the came with the 1st issue. This has the serrated edge to it and the correct centre text reading; 'Album sleeve insert for Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here. Harvest. EMI Records Ltd. SHVL 814'. All other non- serrated postcards omitting this text are either from later UK repressings or are non UK! Next up we have the black poly-covering over the jacket complete with its original circular sticker which is intact. These poly-covers were only used to seal the very first UK pressings upon release in 1975. Virtually all were ripped off without thought upon purchase as buyers were eager to get to the amazing sleeve artwork inside. It is very, very rare to find one remaining with its shrink-wrap still intact and in place tight over the jacket like this one! In fact it is super tight with no seam splitting at all! The opening edge has just one vertical edge cut to remove the record. Needless to say, the 1st press Garrod & Lofthouse unlaminated sleeve underneath will be in mint condition (again very rare, as these sleeves are prone to severe grubbiness and discolouration). As this is such a pristine copy I can't let it go without a quick mention of the amazing artwork on this album; having a copy so clean brings a whole new dimension to the awesome imagery contained on the black wrapper, sleeve, inner and labels. It is a testament to the band but also a great shame that Wish You Were Here contains images that are now so well embedded in popular culture that their meaning is often overlooked. And it's especially amazing to think that the band originally wanted this mind-blowing artwork to be shrouded in an anonymous, all-black plastic wrapper. Of course, this idea was rejected by EMI, who were appalled at the suggestion that they deliberately hide their product, so an additional image featuring the band name over top of two robotic hands in front of the four elements was included as the sticker on top (which, as mentioned above, is completely intact on this copy). Removing this outer wrapper then revealed the proper artwork with its now-famous cover: the flaming businessman, shaking hands with his counterpart (as in the robot image). Three other photographs on the back and inner sleeve represented the remaining elements: a faceless salesman selling Pink Floyd products in the desert (earth); a naked female figure in a grove, barely visible behind a windswept red veil (air); and a splash-less diver half submerged in Mono Lake (water). All four photos in this design appeared to have each element 'breaking' (or burning) into the surrounding white margins.

Anyway, enough rambling, now we get to the actual record and like I said, it is stone cold **Near Mint**!!! I have never seen another Side 1 A//1 Matrix pressing in this sort of condition before. Come to think of it, I have not even seen a  second pressing as good as this! It is visually flawless, with no scratches scuffs of hairlines at all - there are bit even any paper-lines!!!! Those familiar with this record will appreciate how rare this is as the original thick carded inner sleeve often ended up marking the vinyl surfaces with lots of tiny scuffs and hairlines. This one has been so well preserved because the previous owner placed it in a poly-lined replacement inner sleeve upon purchase. It have kept the vinyl in absolutely pristine unblemished condition whilst also preserving the original inner sleeve from any knifing to the seams. This is how the record will come shipped to you. Please see below for an overview of our strict packaging procedure - rest assured it will arrive to you in exactly the condition you see it now! All you really need to know is that, save for one minor factory fault with the sleeve, this is a Near Mint record. My regular customers know that this is a grade I do not use lightly, but in this case I can find nothing worthy of downgrading it for! This record is worthy of only the most serious Mint 1st press Pink Floyd collection. It is a very serious record indeed and the bidding will be high so bid early to avoid disappointment. Do not underestimate the rarity of this record as a UK 1st press in this condition. **True** complete UK 1st press copies in Near Mint condition throughout are impossible to find today. If you have never heard the UK 1st pressing of Wish You were Here, you are truly missing something very special, and you'll never find another copy that plays more pristinely than this- it will blow you away!!! If you are a collector/investor, the price of this record will just rise and rise. An absolutely essential Pink Floyd UK 1st pressing. A very rare opportunity, don't miss this one!!!

The Classic Floyd/Harvest Centre Labels are in stunning Near Mint condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind, they have just the faintest wispy traces of spindle lines around the spindle holes that can only be seen under very strong light.

The disc itself is also in absolutely pristine  Near Mint condition!!! It has a beautiful 'factory pressed' sheen with NO scratches, NO Blemishes, NO Dullness/Groovewear, NO Warping, NO hairlines; not even any paper-lines!!! NOTHING It is simply stunning - it's as simple as that - it is perfect! It plays pristinely with  NO pops, NO sticking, NO jumps, NO crackle and only the VERY faintest lowest level of surface noise in a VERY few places (Barely ANY and AT AN IMPOSSIBLY low level for this record)!!!! Please remember that our records are not over-graded at all.

As mentioned above, the inner sleeve, outer jacket and postcard are all Near Mint. Not a blemish in sight. We all know how grubby the predominantly white artwork becomes on this album, so to find one that is a brightly white as this is impossible, you will not be disappointed with this sleeve! Like I mentioned earlier, there is just a small factory error that has resulted in a few cm's being nicked off the front right corner. It is only on one side, and not an issue at all. In fact I have not even allowed it to reduce the grading from near Mint as a) it is very small. and b) it was a factory error, present when the original owner opened the sleeve.

Please check our Other Auctions as we have some more incredibly rare Pink Floyd/Progressive 1st pressings and rarities currently listed and ending soon!!! This is an absolutely essential record for any high grade 1st press Pink Floyd/Progressive collection

Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
