Description
Pink Floyd : Meddle 1U / 1U 1st Press
This album is stunning in every way and rarely have I heard such clarity, depth and warmth on a genuine first press. There is no obvious intrusion on the audio and there is only minimal static on the intro to each side, and I do mean minimal! 'Echoes' especially is absolutely breathtaking, the quality of the audio is of a level that you just don't hear today, and is very probably the finest version I have ever heard. There is not one single click or pop on either side and the vinyl is also visually stunning. This is such a well preserved first press and a FINAL UPGRADE version in my opinion i.e. no need to find another as this audio could hardly be improved upon!
The fully textured cover has only minimal wear and for once the spine remains fully intact! The original Harvest inner is also in great condition.
Royal Mail shipping costs have massively increased recently and these are shown below. Please could you wait before making payment so I can calculate the exact cost.

Play grading
The 'wind' intro on 'One Of These Days' has only minimal light static and you can hear it very clearly indeed. It is a very impressive start. As the bass 'kicks' in the clarity is excellent, just some light static again, and as Mason and Gilmour enter the scene the audio is superb with barely any 'background'! Once the volume increases the playback cannot be faulted and it's at this point where the audio really can be described 'as new'. The quiet end section has no clicks or pops and only the bare minimum of light static. I would say the intro and brief end section are Ex+ and the musical element as Mint- the playback is that good.
'A Pillow Of Winds' plays beautifully from the outset with no intrusion, just a couple of dust ticks. As the vocal begins the audio is perfect and it continues to play with immaculate precision. Apart from a handful of light ticks on the fade out this is as 'clean' a version as you would want to hear. This would be Mint- but will grade as Near Mint due to these light ticks although they are non-intrusive, they are not clicks!
The intro on 'Fearless' plays with perfect precision and as the vocal begins you can hear a light tick per revolution of the record but again this is so quiet and could easily be missed. As always I'm just being 100% in my grading and in no way does it intrude on the superb audio. It soon disappears and then plays with outstanding clarity and definition. In fact the vast majority is STUNNING and it is obvious this has hardly been played. Right through to the 'You'll Never Walk Alone' end section the audio is immaculate. Near Mint again.
'San Tropez' is Mint an easy grade to give. The clarity and depth is phenomenal and you will not find a stronger version. Wow what a version!
'Seamus' ends the side with wonderful clarity again. For this acoustic track to play as well as this is a rarity as it is so often affected by static/crackle. There is no interference, aside from a handful of barely audible dust ticks, and Mint- is fair. A stunning finish.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To find a nm/m intro on the classic 'Echoes' on a genuine first pressing is nigh on impossible as we all know. However, this one is damn close! It is the 'cleanest' one I have heard in many a year and has no intrusion, just the bare minimum of mega light static and there are no clicks or pops. Superb basically! Once Gilmour's delicate fretwork comes in the audio is immaculate and the same applies to the entire first vocal section. There is no interference and the warmth and depth of the audio just washes over you! The long instrumental piece more than keeps up this 'high end' standard and having played it twice I can assure you the audio does not disappoint in any way, it is sublime. In fact this entire section is Mint there is no other way to describe it. The 'whale' section then plays with incredible clarity with only a small number of light dust ticks. It is so rare for this super quiet section to play with such impressive definition, it really is a stunning listen! As the 'music' re-enters the scene there is still no intrusion on the audio - I just cannot believe what I am hearing! It continues to play with Mint quality as it builds and the final vocal section has no 'background' either. The remainder of this classic plays with wonderful clarity and even the fade out has no interference. This is quite possibly the most 'complete' version I have ever had the pleasure in listening to. There are no clicks or pops, no what I would call obvious static, and the sonic quality has not been affected in the preceding 49 years. I cannot overstate how strong and deep the audio is here. This is a 'switch the lights off and turn it up' moment! As near to perfect as is possible and I am confident in grading this as Mint- with a Near Mint- intro.
In summary this FINAL UPGRADE first pressing plays to standard that is so rarely found today and in all honesty this may well be the strongest and most 'complete' version I have ever heard. 'Echoes' certainly, what a version! The clarity and sonic quality on both sides is so impressive and how many first pressings have no clicks or pops and barely any static?! A beautiful record, both in an audio and visual sense.
Visual grading
This is indeed a stunning example of this record and there are no negatives. It has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no scratches and only a couple of very faint minor marks on S1 but they have no affect on the superb audio quality. Both sides have only 3/4 short insignificant hairlines and there is not very spindle wear either. It doesn't get much better than this! The run grooves are also 'as new' with no marking.
The Gatefold
The fully textured cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear. The edges have very little rubbing and remain very clean indeed but perhaps more impressive is the spine. So often this is in poor condition but this one has barely any wear, just 3/4 tiny rubs, and of course is 100% legible. The corners are in excellent shape overall with only minimal wear and the opening edge is similar with only very minor handling wear. The front cover is so clean with no marking or creasing and could not look any better and the same applies to the back cover. The textured inside has a few small marks near the edge on the left hand side but otherwise remains very clean with a very strong inner spine also. A fine example overall and better than the majority you find today!
The Inner Sleeve
The poly-lined Harvest inner is in superb order with no side splits, hardly any age related fading and only minimal creasing.
The Labels
The yellow/green Harvest labels have no marking or writing and only a little spindle wear. Great example.
