Description

For sale here is a super copy of Pink Floyds iconic "Dark side of the moon" album.

Comes with all the attributes of an original first UK pressing.

Blue tinted gatefold cover, sealed to left hand side.

Solid blue triangle on the labels.

Matrices are A2 and B2.

Black poly lined inner sleeve.

Both posters. Printed on fully matte paper, not glossy.

Both postcard/stickers.

Mother/stampers are insanely early! Side one: 2 AG, side two: 1 RP. Beat that!

I have included an extra sticker with the solid blue triangle depicted. Can be seen in 2 of the photos above. Just a little freebie.

Although these highly collectable albums come up for sale regularly on Ebay, often they are in poor condition.

What is very unusual to find, is a copy with the vinyl in exceptional condition like this copy. The only real signs of it being played

are some spindle trails on the labels. No marks that are really worthy of note. The audio is really really good.

I will give a detailed description of each part, including a play grading.

The cover:

Original and genuine blue tint to the cover. Very different to the black covers of later issues. Left side is sealed, and right hand side is open. Little to no shelf wear at all, any edges or spine. Minor handling wear at open edges. Slight colour loss to corners. A really nice and very clean example.

Conservative grading is a healthy Ex.

I would expect the winner to be pretty pleased with this cover and its grading.

Inner sleeve:

Really nice example of the black poly lined inner. No splits, tears or damage of any kind. Just some light wrinkling that is minimal considering its age. The polythene inner is fully intact. Correct grey printed cat numbers and made in Great Britain present of course.

I grade the inner sleeve as a strong Ex.

Posters:

Both posters are present. Both are in super condition with just the fold marks present. The blue pyramid one has one tiny area of colour loss on the centre line, and close inspection of this one shows that at some point it has been taped to a wall or similar, as there is a slightly discoloured small area in a couple of corners on the rear side, not visible to the front. Both printed on a heavier less glossy paper than later issues.

I grade both posters as Ex.

Postcard/stickers:

Both postcards are present. Both unused. No pin holes, sticky tape, blue tack. Both cards have "Fasprint permanent" and "crack-back" on the reverse with 45 degree brown lines indicating where to peel off the backing. A great pair of cards.

I grade these as Ex+.

The labels:

The iconic solid blue prism labels are in good shape. There are light spindle trails to both sides but no rips or stains. To be safe because of the spindle marks.....

I grade the labels as Ex-.

The vinyl (visual):

Really the vinyl is the cream of this copy. Sits nice and flat to the platter with only minimal "rise and fall". I can see no marks of note aside from wispy sleeve removal hairlines. the vinyl has a depth of shine and a gorgeous black lustre. I have been lucky enough to own several of the first pressings over many years of collecting, but rarely have I seen one as clean as this. I seriously can find no faults worthy of mention.

As this is a visual appraisal, I grade as a solid Ex.

The vinyl (playgrade):

The sound quality on this copy is truly outstanding. Wide open stage, punchy, dynamic detailed sound.

Referring to my notebook (always used to record issues when play grading), I have noted the following:-

3 "dust pops" at the start of the heartbeat on side one. Could be removed by cleaning, quite possibly. 3 more soft "pops" on the intro to the track "Time". On side 2 there are half a dozen light ticks just before the cash register on "Money". That is all I have noted. The rest of the album plays without issue. This is a very high end copy of this album, and I have highlighted noises that are extremely minimal and have very little to no impact on the musicality. I just want it graded 100% accurately. A brilliant audio that I cannot really fault. Hard to imagine a much better sounding copy.

I can very conservatively grade as Ex and believe many may grade higher. It's a belter of a copy.

As a complete and original first UK pressing with the A2 and B2 matrix numbers, correct blue tinged cover, both posters and stickers, I really have to grade overall as excellent. Somebody is going to be very happy!!

I will post overseas, although I have had issues in the past from both Russia and Italy. I have listed the price for UK postage by Royal Mail, who charge £5.55 for 1st class "signed for" postage. If an overseas e-bayer wants this, please bear in mind that I use Ebays "Global Shipping Programme, which takes care of all postage, taxes and duties plus insurance. I DO NOT make anything on the postage. I charge the exact cost (often less) that I pay. I DO NOT charge for packing materials and I try to use recycled packing anyway.

I also dress all my albums in a brand new heavyweight plastic cover and a brand new anti-static inner sleeve.

All vinyl is packed outside of the cover and 2 stiffeners are used in transit.

I have sold many valuable vinyls over the years (please have a good look at my feedback as a seller) and am often credited with Fort Knox style packing.

Please bid with peace of mind that what you see is what you get.

If you have any questions, require extra photos (you can only upload 12 on here), please just ask.

I WILL NOT POST TO RUSSIA, BELARUS OR ANY OF THEIR ALLIES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID, OTHERWISE YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED AND YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.
