PINK FLOYD Dark Side Of The Moon 1999 Set (3) Unreleased Test Pressing Vinyl LPs
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon (RTI)
1999 set of three different test pressings of proposed 180-gram vinyl reissue of 1973. LP. This was intended as a Capitol Records issue, but this reissue was never released. It was cancelled and only a few test pressings (and a few proof covers) exist.
This set of three test pressings each have slightly different catalog numbers. Cover of disc one is dated "July 6 1999" and stamped "72435-21690 1 6 A/B". Disc two is dated "August 5 1999" and stamped "72435-21690 1 6 ARE1/BRE1". Disc three is dated "August 5 1999" and stamped "72435-21690 1 6 ARE2/BRE2". The same info that is stamped on each disc's cover is also stamped on the 'A' label. There are small differences in matrix info etched in trail-off area from disc to disc as well.
It is unknown why Capitol re-cut this album twice before cancelling the reissue, and we are uncertain whether each disc differs sonically in any way from one another. Whether one was "Rejected" for any particular reason, we are not sure.
We know these are 100% authentic because they came from a former Capitol Records executive.
It's very hard to find a set of test pressings like this that show the sometimes quirky nature of the LP production process. A must-own for Pink Floyd and/or test pressing completists!

Disc 1. VG++ / VG+
Disc 2. M- / VG+
Disc 3. M- / VG+

We grade conservatively, accurately and honestly. S/S, M, M- (NM), VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, WBR (Poor). We do not use EX (many dealers' EX would be our VG).
