So here we go again............
**The Dark Side Of The Moon** 1973 Harvest SHVL 804. This is the real deal first issue with the solid light blue triangle labelled disc in the black inner sleeve. Only one side opening of the gatefold sleeve which includes the two postcards and two later issue posters.
The gatefold is solid with no cuts, splits or sticker tears. It shows some corner and edge wear along with some ringwear. Rating out of 10 for condition I give it a 7.5 score.
Both postcards still have their paper backing and the posters have never seen a wall or door although the back of the 'band' poster does have a few small tea stains which don't show through.
And the inner sleeve has age wrinkles but is nicely intact and strong. Best of all it's polythene lined which affords the vinyl the best protection.
Onto the disc itself which reads 150g on the scale so is satisfyingly of medium weight. Both labels are clean as shown with nice tight centre holes. The degree of spindle 'snail' tracking at the centres show the vinyl has had a handful of plays only. On the dead wax are the machined matrix numbers with A-2 and B-2 stampers.
So, the vinyl is flat and shiny. Angled in room daylight at the window it looks very nice thank you but over to the evil desk lamp for the ultimate judgement beneath its' searching and unforgiving light. Under the cruel gaze I see scuffs and hairlines. I rarely play test vinyl due to lack of time but this is one important record so I'm listening to it now on my Linn / Naim system. I hear pops and crackles on the quieter sections but is eminently listenable nonetheless.
My subjective appraisal of the vinyl therefore results in a score of 5 /10 for visual appearance and 7 /10 aurally. I figure the record has seen little play but has not been handled very well. That's my take on it and should the buyer disagree then no problem to return.
I'm starting the listing at 99p so let the market decide. The auction will run to the end so don't bother messaging me with inane offers of £50 for a 'quick sale' or 'do you have a BIN price, mate'? I'm more interested in the spirit of the auction so let it run.
