RARE A/3 B/2MATRIX NUMBERS

HARVEST 804   A3 & B2  1973

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London between June 1972 and January 1973.

Not a lot to sayabout Pink Floyd’s classic album “Dark Side of the Moon.” If you haven’t heardof this album, you’re probably an alien, so there’s no point trying toexplain.  However, if you haven’t heardit on vinyl or don’t own a copy this could be for you. It was released on theHarvest label 1973 and certainly doesn’t sound forty years old. It has the rareA/3 B/2 matrix numbers; original black inner sleeve and"The Gramophone co. ltd" on the record label outer edge, which indicate an early copy.  The inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lineddie-cut black, semi matt paper with white printed text showing 2 patent numbersat the bottom left [1126565/1072844] and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' bottom right;which I’m told also indicate an early copy. The cover is made from strong card, is in very good condition andthe colours of the prism are still bright. The seams and spine are ok too. There is some minimal wear at thecorners but so slight that it may even have been like that since I bought itnew from the legendary Musicland at 44 Berwick Street Soho a couple ofweeks after its original release. I will also include the original plasticouter that I bought with it, although it is starting to split slightly at thetop, it still fits tightly and has successfully kept the dust off for all theseyears. The two stickers and posters have never been used and kept in the sleeveaway from sunlight, so their colours are as they were.

The record itself is clean and glossy and plays well apartfrom some of the usual vinyl crackle between tracks that unfortunately isnoticeable in some of the quiet passages but vanishesafter a few seconds and doesn’t detract from the overall sound.

HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS A PROBLEM. I don’t remembernoticing this when I last played it (probably 20 years ago before I bought thecd) but the record is very slightly warped. It’s not enough to show on a photobut can be seen when it’s revolving. It does play perfectly alright though onmy Pioneer PL12D with a Shure M25ED cartridge tracking at 1.75 grams, so Ican’t see that there is a problem, but thought it fair to point this out.

Even if you don’t have a record deck and can’t play it, this album is alovely piece of genuine memorabilia from a bygone time that changed the worldand would grace any collection. I’m not a dealer of any sort, but am justdownsizing and having to clear things out. I’m starting it at a low price so a genuinecollector can enjoy it without paying rip off prices.

Good luckwith your bidding and feel free to ask any question.
