Description
This is a very rare first pressing of The Dark Side Of The Moon with the solid blue triangle label. As described below the vinyl overall plays with excellent audio with no skips or jumps and with only minimal background noise.
Harvest label SHVL 804 // A2 / B-2 // Mother Stampers PP 2 & GL 2
'Speak To Me' begins proceedings with only faint background crackle. 'Breathe' plays in a similar way with a rich deep audio, the clarity is excellent. 'On The Run' for such a quiet track plays very well. I heard one click about one minute in and a few light clicks at the end. 'Time' sounds stunning with very little in the way of interference. The depth of sound is wonderful and, a quality of audio you only get with vinyl and this continues with 'Breathe Reprise'. 'Great Gig' has a little crackle at the beginning but hardly surprising really for such a quiet intro. The quiet sections do play with light crackle but overall this is probably one of the best 'Great Gigs' I have heard for an A2/B2 pressing.
'Money' starts with extremely clear audio and barely any crackle. I heard three light clicks during the third verse but apart from that it is definitely one of the best I have heard. Many of the first pressings had a skip pressed into the grooves but this one does not have that. 'Us And Them' does have some crackle that is a little more obtrusive but it still plays with clarity and doesn't detract too much from the listening pleasure. 'Any Colour You Like' has stunning audio and sounds very clear. 'Brain Damage' again has great clear audio with only three light clicks in the second verse and a few towards the end. It ends with probably one of the best versions of 'Eclipse' I have heard. It hardly plays with any of the distortion that is so common with this track.
Under a bright daylight visually I can detect numerous light hairlines but there are no deep scratches. Side Two perhaps has more in the way of marking but I would say that most of the background noise is largely unobtrusive and it is still an excellent listen. You expect some interference on vinyls of this age (especially this one!) and I would say the majority of the hairlines are caused by sleeve removal. Any fan would not be disappointed with this rare first press.

Contrary to popular belief not all A2/B2 pressings came with the midnight blue Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover as described on pinkfloydarchives.com
Description: Gatefold cover.
Front Cover #1 [FC1]: Very dark blue with prism.
Front Cover #2 [FC2]: Black cover with prism.
The front cover has been found with three different types of front openings:
- Front Opening #1 [FO1]: The right front opening of the gatefold cover is sealed with the two sides glued together.
- Front Opening #2 [FO2]: The right front opening of the gatefold cover is sealed with a fold over flap that is glued inside the opening.
- Front Opening #3 [FO3]: The right front opening of the gatefold cover is not sealed.
This is the black cover version has the fold over flap glued inside the opening. It is in very good condition with some shelf wear most notably to the corners. The edges are relatively free of wear. The bottom opening edge has a crease as does the reverse side bottom left. There is certainly no major wear and considering its age the gatefold remains in excellent shape. There is some white 'spotting' on the front cover and a little ringwear on the reverse. The spine is in excellent condition with only slight rubbing at the top and bottom. The opening edge is very clean indeed. There are no marks or writing on the cover at all. The inside of the gatefold is also in excellent order with just light 'spotting' around the edges.
The original posters are in wonderful condition with no rips or tears, perhaps the best I have seen. The stickers are in superb condition with no creases or marks at all. They have three brown diagonal lines on the reverse with 'FasPrint Permanent' and 'Crack-Back Patented' printed.
The 'solid blue' labels are in superb condition with no marks or fading which is relatively common and they have very little spindle wear. It also has the polylined die-cut black inner sleeve in excellent condition.
