Pink Floyd : Animals A2/B2 1st Press

This first pressing is in fantastic condition with exceptional clarity, depth and power that is so impressive.  There is just one light click on S1 and basically no other interference.  The clarity truly is STUNNING and that applies to S2 which is a genuine rarity.  There are only 3/4 static ticks and a handful of barely audible dust ticks across the entire album and this is without one of the finest A2/B2 first pressings that you will find today.  A FINAL UPGRADE time warp classic it could be said.
The vinyl is visually stunning and with barely any spindle wear I can safely say it has hardly been played.  I sold another one of these earlier this year and this one is certainly on a par with that one, please see my feedback!
The cover is also in lovely condition with only very minimal wear and the lyric inner is so close to perfect with, can you believe, no edge splits!  A stunning all round 'package'.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and after a good clean still has that 'as new' jet-black glossy look with no marks or scratches and I cannot detect any hairlines either.  There is no groove wear and both sides are incredibly clean.  As stated there is hardly any spindle wear and it is obvious this record has hardly been played.  The labels are near perfect with just a little very faint 'spotting' that you can only see when you hold the vinyl at a certain angle.  This is easily one of the finest first pressings I have ever seen.
Play grading
The acoustic 'Pigs On The Wing (Part One)' plays with stunning clarity and no interference.  There are 3/4 dust ticks but they are so much in the background and totally non-intrusive.  There are no obvious ticks, clicks or pops and there is no background static either.  This is Mint- start to the album for sure.
The quiet build up on 'Dogs' plays beautifully and in fact the entire intro can be described 'as new' it is that good.  The first verse is equally as impressive and the second just has one very light click at the end of the first line.  Gilmour's first solo is close to perfect with just one brief and barely audible static sound at the start, about half a seconds worth!  The third verse is faultless and it continues to plays with great clarity and no 'background' through the next instrumental section.  Each note plays so clearly and it's really the clarity of sound that really stands out.  As I often say this is clearly a record that has hardly been played and the quieter section with the dog barking plays with STUNNING quality.  The next solo again sounds like it was pressed only yesterday and that applies to the fourth verse also.  Already I am running out of suitable adjectives in which to describe the audio here!  The following instrumental piece plays with remarkable clarity and when you find a vinyl as 'clean' as this you pick up on things you haven't noticed before such as Mason's percussive work, it is so precise.  This standard is kept up during the next acoustic section and the final two verses and Gilmour's final solo play with perfect audio once more.  There is just one very light tick prior to the final section and as we all know this section is so often affected by inner groove distortion and yet this is easily one of the 'cleanest' I have ever heard.  There is no distortion and the playback is hugely impressive.  This 17 minute classic plays with genuine quality and as you can tell the vast majority deserves to be graded as Mint and the second verse is only Near Mint due to that one light click.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S2 often plays with more interference than S1 on the A2/B2 pressings I find but this undoubtedly one of the strongest I have heard in many a year.  The intro on 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' plays so clearly with only a couple of light ticks and the opening two verses then play 'as new' with no intrusion.  The long instrumental section then plays with wonderful precision with...no interference and that includes the quieter section at the end, the playback is spectacular!  3/4 dust ticks that is all.  The final verse is faultless and Gilmour's closing solo also plays with tremendous power and no distortion.  An example of the clarity is on the long fade which has no 'background' whatsoever.  I will grade the intro as Near Mint but the rest has to be graded as Mint it is stunning.
The long intro on 'Sheep' plays with remarkable clarity and I heard only a couple of light ticks and barely any static.  This is a section that often plays with a fair amount of 'background' and at over 1.5 minutes long the playback is superb!  the opening two verses are flawless, they could not play any better, and the instrumental section then plays with stunning precision also, 2/3 dust ticks at most.  Audio does not get any better than this!  The 'Lord's Prayer' section is nigh on perfect with just one minor static tick and the final vocal more than keeps up the standard.  Gilmour's closing section plays with great power and definition and none of the distortion that you so generally find.  The quiet 'sheep' end section again has no 'background' and overall this track fully deserves another Mint- grade.
'Pigs On The Wing (Part 2)' closes the album with impeccable audio you will not be surprised to hear.  There is literally no interference and for a final track that is so quiet to play so clearly is a genuine rarity.  I have no hesitation in grading it as Mint and it provides a suitably stunning finish to a stunning album.
In summary it is fair to say it does not get a lot better than this!  I sold another genuine 2/2 first press 2/3 months ago and this one is of the same 'high end' standard with a sonic quality that can hardly be faulted.  I can confidently say this record has hardly been played and I am basing this on the audio and that there is only very minimal spindle wear on the labels.  S1 is more or less perfect apart from one light click and S2 is equally as impressive with only 3/4 static ticks and a handful of insignificant dust ticks.  As stated S2 often plays with more 'background' than S1 (I don't think the powers that be got the test pressings right!) so when you find a S2 as strong as this one it is a genuine rarity.  The playback is so clean on both sides and each note plays with stunning clarity and precision.  There cannot be many A2/B2 pressings as pristine as this around today and it comes complete with a superb cover and lyric inner.  This will obviously add to any 'high end' collection.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
This iconic cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal wear and has clearly been very well looked after down the years.  The edges have very little rubbing and the wide spine has retained its original shape perfectly with only a couple of tiny white 'specks' and just light wear on the corners.  The right hand corners have barely any wear and the opening edge is more or less perfect with just one tiny 'crimp' near the top which you can only see if your eyes are up close!  The front cover is very clean with only a small number of white 'specks' near the top edge.  It has retained its original colour so well and for once there are no creases around the edges.  The back cover is in great order with just a couple of 'specks' near the top and the inside of the gatefold is in fantastic condition with barely any of the fading around the edges that you so often see and the inner spine has no damage.  A superb example overall.
The lyric inner (with rounded corners) is also in great shape and for once has no bottom edge split - how rare is that!  There are no side splits either and apart from a couple of specks on the edges is near perfect with only some very faint spotting that you can only see when you hold it at a certain angle.  The thumb notch is 'as new' with no creasing and it's clear to see that they are rarely found as clean as this today.
