Pink Floyd: A Saucerful of Secrets - a rare and beautiful UK mono first pressing of this iconic album on the blue and black Columbia label.
Must be one of the best that's left, as I am sure you can see from my photos.
The dedicated mono front laminated single flipback sleeve is in remarkable EX+ condition with lovely sharp corners and opening edges and just a few tiny creases in the laminate near the spine - a beautiful and truly extraordinary example of a mono flipback that is usually encountered well worn.
Lovely EX- little played vinyl with first press 1/1 matrices and near perfect blue and black Columbia labels with only light spindle marks; fabulous shiny black vinyl with just a couple of light surface marks apparent when critically examined under harsh halogen lighting and certainly no scratches affecting playback.
The disc is housed in its EX original unsplit pink-tinged Columbia advertising inner sleeve.
If you have yet to hear it, the mono pressing of A Saucerful of Secrets is a revelation, easily surpassing the stereo. In Flashback magazine (Mono v Stereo), Patrick Lundborg writes: "The Saucerful mono blows the stereo away … once you've heard the Saucerful mono mix you're never going to want to hear the stereo again. The mono simply sounds good and properly mixed, grabbing your attention and tugging you towards the celestial bodies of your imagination. The three science fiction tracks sound like brand new creations when heard the mono way. Wright's cosmic keyboard carpets, Gilmour's shimmering guitar figures and Mason's highly effective, somewhat orchestral drumming, all maintain distinct places in the space-rock landscape. The opening of the title track displays not just a better sound but distinctly different audio effects ..."
Good luck if you are bidding. I carefully package all rare vinyl with the disc removed from the sleeve to eliminate 'knifing' during transit. Please check out my other high quality original UK vinyl offerings.
