Description
This is a very rare A1/B1 first press of A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Not often seen in this condition the vinyl retains that glossy sheen and I cannot see any hairlines. With hardly any spindle wear I would say this record has hardly been played. Also included is a 'Momentary Lapse' Tour Programme and a Pink Floyd carrier bag :-) . I am also selling the very rare 'Momentary Lapse' picture disc on another listing.
I have play tested the LP all the way through and the audio dooes not disappoint. On so many vinyls 'Signs Of Life' plays with a lot of lead in static being such a quiet track but this one plays with very clear audio and absolute minimal crackle and is probably the best I have heard. The remainder of the side has the same quality, the audio plays with a deep rich clarity with almost zero static sound. 'On The Turning Away' is simply stunning and plays as new. The whole side plays without any skips or jumps.
'Yet Another Movie' start Side Two with a little lead in static but it soon disappears and plays extremely well with no other background noise, just slight crackle at the end. 'A New Machine' plays with just the slightest of interference but is not obtrusive in any way. The audio is again rich and deep and is amongst the best I have heard for a first press. The audio on 'Terminal Frost' is sublime and plays superbly and 'Sorrow' ends the LP with the same quality with almost no interference at all. Overall this is one of the best 'Momentary Lapses' I have ever heard and for a first press would be a great find for any Floyd fan.
It is worth noting that this is probably the very first of the first pressings. My understanding of matrix numbers brings me to this conclusion. Another sign is that only the very early issues were sold in the 'pink bag' which is also included here.

The gatefold cover is in excellent condition with only minor wear on a couple of edges. The most shelf wear is on the top edge but is only minor. The corners are clean and it retains a strong wide spine. There is very minor white spotting but you have to look very closely to see it. Perhaps it's not even worth me mentioning it really but I include it for the sake of completeness really. The inside of the gatefold is in superb condition as is the reverse side. The lyric inner is in wonderful condition with barely any wear at all.
As stated also included is a 'Momentary Lapse' Tour Programme with text on the history of the band, black and white photos and a UK discography. It just has slight creasing and a couple of small marks on the inside.
The pink 'Pink Floyd' bag is bizarrely a bit of collectors item in that some of the early presses were sold in them. I doubt if very few of them exist today! In excellent condition it has no holes or tears at all :-)
