Description
Pink Floyd : A Momentary Lapse Of Reason A1 / B1 1st Press
This genuine first pressing plays to an excellent standard with only a little interference mainly on the intros on the first track of each side, a common occurrence.
The gatefold is one of the most impressive I have seen in a long time and has no obvious shelf wear, a stunning example. The lyric inner is also in superb condition.
Please wait for the invoice before making payment as this may have to sent via tracked shipping, conditions below.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in lovely condition with a very healthy glossy sheen and no scratches. There are only a relatively small number of faint hairlines and one minor 'fade' mark on S2 but has very little spindle wear so I suspect it has not been overplayed. The run out grooves and labels are in superb condition.
Play grading
As any collector knows 'Signs Of Life' always has some static/crackle - it is just unavoidable on the first pressings and in a way should not be downgraded because of it. Once the music begins there are a couple of light clicks but it then plays more clearly and the second half is a lot more impressive. Overall I would say this opening instrumental ranges between VG and Ex+
'Learning To Fly' in contrast plays with stunning quality from start to finish. With only a hint of barely audible static on the intro the remainder is nigh on perfect with superb clarity and definition. This is easily Near Mint with the majority being even better than that!
'The Dogs Of War' has only very minimal light static on the intro and then plays with outstanding quality. There is no interference and the instrumental section in particular is stunning. There are a couple of light ticks in the following quieter section and the final verse then plays with great precision and no 'background'. Near Mint overall.
The intro on 'One Slip' is nigh on perfect with only a small number of very light dust ticks and from that point on it the audio is 'as new' with no interference of any kind. The power and depth here is very impressive indeed - a 'high end' Mint- version to say the least.
'On The Turning Away' has only minimal static on the intro and as the vocal begins the playback is near perfect. As it progresses the audio is so strong. The quiet section just prior to the final verse is so 'clean' with barely any static and the classic Gilmour solo then plays with breathtaking power and depth and there is no obvious distortion which makes a change! The fade out has no 'background' either - whilst the intro grades as Ex the remainder is Near Mint for sure if not better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again the first grooves on S2 often have some 'background' and 'Yet Another Movie' does have some light static and a few crackle type sounds. The music can still be heard very clearly though. Once the volume increases the audio cannot be faulted and actually plays with great clarity. In fact the more I listen to it the more I am impressed by it! Bar the intro the audio is fantastic and especially the instrumental section after the fourth verse. I turned the volume up to max here and wow the power that 'blasted' from the speakers was immense! To the end it plays with sublime precision - so whilst the intro is VG the remainder is Mint without question. The closing 'Round And Around' also play beautifully with only a handful of barely audible dust ticks.
'A New Machine Part 1' plays extremely well considering how quiet it is. There is only minimal static and Ex+ is deserved here.
'Terminal Frost' plays with superb audio and no obvious interference at all. There are only a handful of barely audible ticks and I am sure I am only hearing then because I sit so close to the speakers! The classic middle section plays 'as new' the power and depth of the music here is phenomenal! The remainder plays with flawless precision and although I am tempted to grade as Mint- I will err on the side of caution and call it Near Mint - a little crackle at the end of the fade out.
'A New Machine Part 2' plays with great clarity and very little 'background' although there is just a little crackle and some light clicks literally on the final note. Ex+ overall.
'Sorrow' also has some ticks and a couple of light clicks on the intro but this does not last too long. Once the track 'kicks into gear' the audio is stunning and there is no interference. It continues to play with great precision and can correctly be termed 'as new'. VG+ on the intro but the rest is Mint without a doubt the power and depth of the audio is up there with the best I have heard.
In summary this first pressing plays to an excellent standard overall with only minimal interference. This is mainly on the intro to each side but this is a common feature with this album as many collectors will testify. I have graded as honestly as I can and as always I have listened to every second of the album.
The Gatefold
This cover is one of the finest examples I have ever seen and remains very strong and robust like it has barely been handled. The edges and wide spine have no wear and the corners are equally as good also. The opening edge has just a minimal amount of feathering but sstill remains in excellent shape. Booth the front and back cover are in perfect condition with no marking and the inside is also pristine. A stunning cover!
The Lyric Inner
The inner is near perfect with only a small amount of faint creasing around the thumb notch area. It has no marking.
The Labels
The are both in great shape with no marking or writing and not that spindle wear.
