The Pink Fairies were an English rock band active in the London (Ladbroke Grove) underground and psychedelic scene of the early 1970s. They promoted free music, drug taking and anarchy and often performed impromptu gigs and other agitprop stunts, such as free outside the gates at the Isle of Wight pop festival, the Windsor Free Festivals as well as appearing at the first Glastonbury outing and Phun City!
The group were formed when the three musicians from The Deviants (Paul Rudolph guitar and vocals; Duncan Sanderson bass Russell Hunter drums , having sacked their singer and leader Mick Farren (born Michael Anthony Farren, returned from a disastrous tour of the West Coast of North America and hooked up with former The Pretty Things drummer Twink. Prior to the tour these musicians had collaborated on Twink's Think Pink solo album, and while they were away on tour Twink, Farren and Steve Peregrin Took had used the Pink Fairies Motorcycle Club and All-Star Rock and Roll Band name, taken from a story written by Jamie Mandelkau, as an umbrella for their activities, including one shambolic gig in Manchester and the recording of Farren's solo album Mona The Carnivorous Circus!
What a Bunch of Sweeties is a 1972 album by the UK underground group Pink Fairies!. Twink had left the band before the recording of this album. Former The Move guitarist Trevor Burton occasionally joined the band for gigs and contributes to a couple of tracks!!. The sleeve came in a gatefold cover by Edward Barker, the front showing a box full of goodies, the inner gatefold a cartoon strip!
The earliest originals were printed by E.Day & Co Ltd England. !!.
The lyrics for "Pigs Of Uranus" are taken from a Gilbert Shelton comic strip Wonder Warthog versus the Pigs from Uranus.
"Walk Don't Run" is a cover of The Ventures song, and there's a cover version of The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There". "Marilyn" featues a drum solo!!

The Vinyl
This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable, on initial inspection this vinyl looks as new!! Still retains it super glossy sheen from new and it is obvious that this has barely ever been played at all! I have had this album from new and have only played this a handfull of times if that! Only if scrutinised under a strong light can any very small light surface marks\blemishes\scuff possibly be seen which has very (little) if (no) effect on the awesome top audio quality.
The Audio
Quality I have played this through track for track at very loud volume on a top system! This plays almost as good as it gets on vinyl in my opinion! (no) loud clicks or pops and with (no) distortion and (no) surface noise what so ever! Absolutely stunning top seperation on all frequencies! Even in between tracks it is silent! only one or two static ticks i heard all of the ay through this vinyl absolutely unbeleivable after 36 years old! I would grade this audio as at least Excellent plus plus! very very near as perfect throughout!
I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right! Audio Graded Near Mint throughout in my opinion, barely ever played incredibly rare 43 years old!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static tick (not click) not consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a 36 year old record that would have been played on a 36 year old system! To be honest even at super loud volume this plays almost perfect!,silent in between tracks The labels These are the Polydor labels red ith black text and are in as new condition! It is hard to see any real signs that this has ever been played at all, You can still see the plastic in the spindle hole! Unbeleivable to find like this after 36 years! Only ever played by me a handful of times if that!!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original Polydor Poly lined record sleeve with no splits or tares just light creases light staining ith age just superbe!
The Cover
This is the original E.Day & Co printed gatefold cover! (only 1st UK press) Very rare to find in this truly awesome condition! Barely any storageware worth to mention and creases are very very minimal indeed! Any rubbing you will have to look very hard to see any this is strong and straight (normally see in a terrible state) This must be at least Excellent plus To Near Mint!
