For your consideration is a scarce, promotional only, 12" soundtrack record album with highlights from the 1959 Doris Day, Rock Hudson film: "Pillow Talk" ... the full, original soundtrack was never officially released as an album, this rare sampler is included on McNally's list of the Top 20 most valuable US Soundtracks ... single-sided and narrated by Doris Day, the disc is contained in a die-cut cardboard, hot pink, pillow-shaped cover which reads: "Pillow Talk" ... this 33 1/3 RPM album was a promotional issue distributed prior to the film's release ... if you're a soundtrack collector and reading this, you should already know just how rare this album is ... seldom ever seen for sale or up for auction, very few copies still exist, it's not even listed anywhere on Discogs and most other record collecting sites.

This one-sided album consists of spoken word introductions by Doris day and excerpts of songs from the film including "Pillow Talk" by Doris Day ... "Inspiration" by Rock Hudson ... "Roly Poly" by Doris & Rock ... "Possess Me" by Doris ... and finally, the "Pillow Talk" theme fade-out by Doris Day.

The hot-pink colored label features a small photo of Doris Day & Rock Hudson with the text: ... "Selections From The Soundtrack Of "Pillow Talk" ... "This Special Recording Is Personally For You" ... LP Microgroove - 33 1/3 RPM ... Doris Day - Rock Hudson ... U-1 ... DCLA-1316 ... Matrix Run-out reads - "DCLA-1316 - Doris Day LP"

I'm not going to try and sugar-coat the condition of this 57 year old LP that was released on June 1, 1959 ... it definitely does shows wear on both the cover and the vinyl ... normally, I would never list any record for auction on eBay in this well-played condition, but considering it's true rarity, this one deserves to be in the possession of an advanced Soundtrack or Doris Day collector ... I carefully cleaned and then play-tested the album three separate times on my Technics SL-D2 turntable with an Audio-Technica cartridge ... it played fine all the way through with no skips, but there was quite a bit of crackling, pops and surface noise ... the record itself shows scuffing and many light scratches which I had a hard time getting to show up in my photographs ... the die-cut pillow cover has obvious wear with creasing and small edge tears but should display very well ... both the paper record label and jacket have no writing, stickers, moisture damage or stains ... the vinyl album is flat with no warping ...  it's nowhere near perfect or minty, but still a complete, original, and almost impossible to find example of this scarce promotional album ... please carefully review the detailed images provided
