Condizioni : la copertina in cartoncino lucido su entrambi i lati mostra poche lievi grinzette sull'angolo superiore sinistro; grande stato, NEAR MINT / vinile con minimi segni probabilmente causati dall'attrito con la copertina interna e senza alcun condizionamento per il perfetto ascolto, segnalo inoltre leggeri aloni opachi esclusivamente sulla zona non incisa del disco adiacente all'etichetta; grande stato, NEAR MINT

Condition : cover in glossy tiny cardboard on both sides shows a few small creases on the upper left corner, NEAR MINT / vinyl has some minimal scuffs probably caused by its friction with the inner sleeve and a bit of cloudy stripes exclusively on the dead wax, NEAR MINT 

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : le composizioni sono caratterizzate da un'ampia utilizzazione dell'orchestra d'archi con alcuni interventi di pianoforte, Hammond ed in un sol caso del moog (a5). Il primo lato contiene brani dedicati al tema della speranza, il secondo al dramma. Positività e aspetti negativi della società. Non si pensi comunque che le tracce riguardanti la speranza abbiano caratteristiche musicali che riflettono spensieratezza, divertimento e ralax. Niente affatto ! C'è una visione ottimistica del compositore verso alcuni valori umani assistiti dallo sviluppo delle innovazioni sociali e tecnologiche. La speranza non è il concretizzarsi di qualcosa di positivo ma semplicemente un credo per un futuro migliore: talvolta è benevola, talvolta è crudele. Violini, viola e violoncello ci regalano armonie piuttosto intense raffiguranti atmosfere di una serenità che non è mai certa, sole e nuvole se vogliamo usare una similitudine. Tra queste prime sei tracce menziono "Il Progresso" (a5) dove accanto alla sezione d'archi ed al pianofender entrano in scena moog ed organo Hammond dando vita al tema di maggior respiro melodico e sereno della prima facciata.

Nel secondo lato troviamo otto brani che hanno come tema il dramma. Orbene il significato di questa parola non ha per Umiliani una connotazione esclusivamente pessimistica ma viene intesa come il rapporto fra certo ed incerto dovuto al continuo mutamento di quanto si riteneva spiritualmente ed in concreto acquisito ma invece inesorabilmente sconvolto dalle nuove tendenze dell'economia e del pensiero. Certamente vi è un generale incupimento sonoro rispetto al primo lato con temi malinconici o decisamente pessimisti ma al di sopra di queste peculiarità si avvertono anche suoni dolci e melodici come a voler lenire l'animo ferito e riportarci al primo tema: si sa la speranza non muore mai. "Intollerenza" (b5) è forse il brano di maggior intensità drammatica sottolineata dalla forza sonora degli archi e dalle percussive note del pianoforte. "Opposizione" (b8) si basa su la ripetitività degli accordi provenienti da pianoforte, viole e violoncello che trasmettono "tensione ma in chiave positiva, attiva, senza tristezza" (dalle note dell'album che accompagnano il titolo). 

Notes : the compositions are characterized by an extensive use of the string orchestra with some involvements of piano, Hammond and in a single case of moog (a5). The tracks on the first side are devoted to the theme of hope whereas those on the B-side to drama. In other words positivity and negative aspects of society. You don't believe, however, that the themes in regards to the hope may have music features reflecting carefreeness, fun and ralax. Not at all! There is an optimistic vision of the composer to some human values ??helped by the generation of social and technological innovations. Hope is not the materialisation of something positive but simply the creed in a better future, it is sometimes benevolent and sometimes cruel. Violins, viola and cello give us rather intense harmonies depicting some atmospheres of a changeable serenity. Sun and clouds if we want to use a simile. Among these first six tracks I recall "Il Progresso" (a5) where along with the string section and pianofender, Hammond organ and moog burst on the scene giving rise to the theme of most melodic and serene respite on the first part.       The second side has eight tracks describing the drama. Well then this word does not have only a pessimistic meaning for Umiliani but is understood as the relationship between certainty and uncertainty due to the continuous change on what previously was acquired both spiritually and concretely but relentlessly shocked by the new economic trends and thought. There is certainly an overall dark sound in comparison to the first side with gloomy or strongly pessimistic themes but beyond these features you can feel even sweet and melodic sonorities just as to soothe the hurt soul and bring us back on the theme of side one. We know that Hope Never Dies. "Intollerenza" (b5) is perhaps the tune from the most dramatic intensity underscored by the lively phrasing of string orchestra and percussive piano notes. "Opposizione" (b8) is based on a repetition of chords by piano, viola and cello reflecting "tension but in a positive and active light without sadness" (from the liner notes accompanying the title).
