ORIGINAL UK HARVEST FIRST (and only) PRESSING (June 1970) OF "Picnic: A Breath Of Fresh Air" DOUBLE LP HARVEST SAMPLER (almost immediately withdrawn from sale at the request of Pink Floyd who for some reason were not happy with their track "Embryo" being released)
THIS COPY IS NOT ONLY IN BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED CONDITION (probably been played less than a handful of times and delivering exceptionally clean audio) WITH THE OUTER LAMINATED GARROD & LOFTHOUSE (UNCREDITED) GATEFOLD SLEEVE STILL RETAINING ITS 29/11 ORIGINAL PRICE STICKER BUT THE SIDE ONE LABEL CARRIES A "FACTORY SAMPLE" STICKER WHICH MAKES THIS COPY A BIT MORE SPECIAL

THIS RELEASE IS MOST FAMOUS (and sought after) FOR THE WITHDRAWN PINK FLOYD TRACK "Embyro" (not available anywhere else on vinyl) AND THE SYD BARRETT SONG, "Terrapin", but it contains many other outstanding tracks from Deep Purple, Barclay James Harvest, The Battered Ornements, Shirley and Dolly Collins, Pretty Things, Roy Harper, Bakerloo, Kevin Ayres, The Greatest Show On Earth, Third Ear Band, Forest, Pete Brown and Piblokto!, Panama Limited, Quatermass, Micheal Chapman, Tea & Symphony and The Edgar Broughton Band which show what an impressive roster of artists Harvest had at the time

THE TWO RECORDS ARE PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE UK HARVEST GREEN/YELOW LABELS (no EMI logo) AND "The Gramophone Co. Ltd" TOP RIM TEXT (the same as all pressings of this LP as it was never re-issued) WITH THE SIDE ONE LABEL CARRYING THE "FACTORY SAMPLE" STICKER
MATRIX SET: SHSS 1 A-2 / SHSS 1 B-1 and SHSS 2 A-1 / SHSS 2 B-1
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/GG, 1/GG and 2/GM, 1/A
AND IT COMES COMPLETE WITH THE TWO ORIGINAL WHITE POLY LINED INNER SLEEVES (which pre-date the introduction of the Harvest Company advertising inners)

LABELS: Clean, bright and unmarked labels with just a handful of light spindle traces - this copy has seen very little play. The FACTORY SAMPLE sticker on the Side One label looks like it has had an attempt at removal with some ceasing on two of the corners but the original owner wisely thought better of it and left it alone (please see close-up photos)
VINYL Visual: All four surfaces are clean, practically unmarked and shine like new - two beautiful records
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio quality throughout - certainly one of the finest copies I have ever heard as this set commonly plays with surface noise, especially on the quieter tracks (Roy Harper and Third Ear Band being especially problematic in this respect - but here playing as beautifully and quietly as you could wish for). The audio covers an amazing dynamic range (from the hard rocking Deep Purple to the beautiful, quiet Third Ear Band) with crystal clear, deep, rich and warm sound reproduction and on playback at a loud volume there are no scratches, no jumps, no sticks, no surface noise and barely any clicks/pops (really, hardly any at all). Both LPs play to an extremely high standard with great clarity, no groove-wear and no distortion (the set has seen little play) and are critically graded NEAR MINT for audio (and I cannot emphasise enough how hard it is to find a copy which plays this well) - this is a beautifully clean pressing - fantastic copy
SLEEVE: The original outer laminated G&L gatefold cover (with original price sticker) is in beautiful condition with virtually no wear to speak of on its edges and a nice clean, clear spine. The outer laminated surfaces have a beautiful deep, glossy sheen with only a little rubbing and light record impression and the unlaminated inside (picturing the records featured on this compilation) is clean and fresh - EXCELLENT
