An intriguing and accomplished masterpiece, fusing Gong, Soft Machine, Supersister, Hatfield, maybe some Zappa or Magma and other influences I don’t recognize, this is not your typical Italian Band record.
Cosmic and/or experimental soundscapes, loops and/or drones, built over/mixing with bass lines and assorted percussions, including vibes and marimbas – PdalP have no titular drummer ( a couple of guests appear on some tracks); complex or fiery woodwinds and brass arrangements alternating with humorous, Wyatt like or chanted, Hatfield like vocal lines;
Clean jazzy, classical nylon or electronically processed guitars; acoustic pianos, jazzy Rhodes or synth washes; bubbling bass or restless percussions;
Counterpoint or swing; pompous or restrained; frenzied or cool; witty or naïve;
And a dreamy double flute theme flying over acoustic guitar and piano heavenly harmonies – the only completely live recording here - that will leave you craving for more…"Off"...
