In 1967 Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie played in the legendary John Mayall & The Blues Breakers, and were given free studio time during which they recorded five songs. Peter Green was so convinced of this band´s musical prowess that he formed it on the spot and named it after the drummer & the bass player.              
Fleetwood Mac, the self-titled debut album, was released in 1968, and was one of the highlights of the late British Blues movement, climbing to the #4 slot in the UK album charts without producing one single, and managing to stay in the charts for 37 weeks. It was a traditional blues album true to form, but one that also showcased Peter Green's budding singing and songwriting skills.

En 1967, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood y John McVie tocaron en el legendario John Mayall & The Blues Breakers, y les concedieron tiempo libre en el estudio durante el cual grabaron cinco canciones. Peter Green estaba tan convencido del poder y destreza musical de esta banda que la formó en el acto y le puso el nombre  tomando como base los apellidos del baterista y del bajista.
Fleetwood Mac, el álbum debut homónimo, fue lanzado en 1968, y fue uno de los acontecimientos más destacados del movimiento británico de Blues, ascendiendo al puesto número 4 en las listas de álbumes del Reino Unido sin producir un solo single, y logrando permanecer en las listas durante 37 semanas. Es formalmente un álbum de blues tradicional, pero que también muestra las habilidades como cantante y compositor de Peter Green.
