PETE TOWNSHEND ~ PURE 'N' EASY 1980
PENGUIN RECORDS PROJECT EGG 3.
COMPLETE WITH COMMERCIAL 7" SINGLE (EGG 3 1/2).
Here's a rare one for you, It's a collection of tracks taken from the studio and from The Roundhouse, London, April 14th 1974. A point worth mentioning is that Pete plays a tape on stage, taken from one of his home demo's for "My Generation". The album is packed in a deluxe cover with a young Pete playing a Rickenbacker on the front. It comes complete with it's original bonus 7" single featuring Pete's demo version of the Cole Porter track "Begin the Beguine", which was Meher Baba's favourite song, and "If I were a Carpenter", originally by Tim Hardin. The single has the serial "Egg 3 1/2". The centre holes on both the album and single are plain white with printed Side A and B stamped on them, and the single comes without the centre insert. You can see on the back of the Album sleeve the "500 numbered copies" and the stamp for this one is 309. You can also see the tracklistings in the photo's, so here's the gradings.
The sleeve is a thick card type which is pictured front and back. It's solid all round, very minor touch of rubbing on a small spot bottom edge, very small corner ding's. The spine is undamaged with all wording clear. opening edge is flat and crisp. Small scuff next to the "commercial single" sticker on the front and some sticker residue. (see pictures). The sleeve for the single is excellent. The vinyl is shiny, flat, with some mild scuffs from removing it from the paper sleeve. No deep scratches. The single is the same.
This is a very collectable piece, and doesn't turn up often. I don't recall seeing another one on ebay, or anywhere else for that matter.
