PESCADO RABIOSO: A heavy rock band from Argentina. Their first album was housed in a superb psychedelic coloured sleeve. It was repressed in the eighties. The group were notable for including Luis A. Spinetta, who wrote four and co-wrote the two remaining tracks on their debut album. Side one opens with Spinetta's bluesy Blues De Cris, which is followed by the extended but only partially successful El Jardinero (Temprano Amanecio). The side closes with a group composition and delightful ballad Dulce 3 Nocturno. The second side is more atypical, mostly keyboard-driven progressive rock. On this Algo Flota En La Laguna catches the ear with its distorted guitar.

With a new line-up 'B' they recorded the excellent hard-rock single Post-crucificción and they were filmed performing it on the movie 'Rock Hasta Que Se Ponga El Sol'. They also figure on the resulting soundtrack album.

Pescado 2 (conceived as two separate albums and released in its original format with a 48-page booklet) is usually considered one of the finest South American rock albums ever recorded. It's also considered to represent the apex of Spinetta's creativity. On cuts like Poseído Del Alba, Como El Viento Voy A Ver, I Holdae Dulce Viento, Rock De La Silva Madre, Senorita Zapada, Credulidad and Corto there's pleasant guitar and / or organ work making for interesting listening.

Musical differences between Spinetta and Lébon led the band to split in mid-1973. Just prior to this a single with a non-album 'A' side was released Me Gusta Ese Tajo. Then Spinetta recorded another fine solo album Artaud assisted by his brother Carlos Gustavo Spinetta, ex-Almendra colleagues Rodolfo García (drms) and Emilio Del Guercio (bs) assisted on some cuts. The album seems to have been dedicated to French actor and poet Antonin Arbaud. Difficult to categorise musically it is well worth checking out. It veered more towards folk than their other albums. It was housed in an oversized, strangely shaped mostly green cover with a small booklet containing the lyrics and relevant technical information. Musically the opening and closing cuts are melodic and appealing Todas Las Hojas Son Del Viento and Las Habladurias Del Mundo. Cementerio Club featured some delightful Santana - like guitar playing and A Starosta, El Idiota is a slice of adventurous, atmospheric psychedelia. An interesting album overall.

Pescado Rabioso are remembered as one of Argentina's most influential and creative groups.
