Description
Lovely lyrical UK private pressing folk album in Beggar's Hill/Magenta/Hooknorton vein. Strong mixture of trad songs (great versions of 'Here's The Last To Die' and 'Hard Times Of Old England'), a couple of contemporary covers (eg the Gerry Rafferty title song) and original material like 'The Child' and 'Old Age'. The label is the band's own (catalogue number is PEN 1), although the Kent-based Ace label (who were responsible for prog band Gizmo) helped to arrange the pressing, hence their logo is on the back sleeve. Back cover is autographed/dedicated by the group's singer/guitarist. Never seen this before, and given that this copy came to me from someone who worked on the album, my guess is that the album was a demo-only pressing and was never made available to the public. Both sleeve and disc are in mintish condition.
