• OUT OF PRINT 1997 fanclub-only holiday split 7" with Pearl Jam. "Live For Today" is the last released original recording with drummer Bill Berry. Pearl Jam side is called "Happy When I'm Crying." Hand-printed and numbered sleeve. Please note there were two pressing of this single with different covers -- one for the Pearl Jam fanclub, and one for the R.E.M. fanclub.

• If you're watching this review is because you are interested in this 7" vinyl and that means you are a Pearl Jam fan - or becoming one. The effort that pearl jam has been doing the last 25 years to get the fans a Christmas present (a fan club vinyl) is to be recognized, as they most of the time, come with an original and exclusive song (or songs) that really outshines and distinguishes from their other songs in their LP albums (which are as well superb). In this case, 'Happy When I'm Crying' is a very odd tune, not in the classic pearl jam style but is worth to listen to cause it's different from what Pearl Jam had done before and it has interesting lyrics and a catchy melody and is a Jack Irons creation and that alone makes this song a rarity within the Pearl Jam catalog.

• The B-side which is a R.E.M. song, "Live For Today" is also very cool. The track was written by the band. It was recorded around the time of the "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" album in '96. This is the only way the track has been released. 

• If you are an assiduous-rarities-hunter Pearl Jam / R.E.M. fan collector, this is a must have item!
