Please do not under estimate the rarity of this album in this condition, also this is the genuine and early first pressing (pressed from the earliest stampers) in my opinion the earliest for the best audio quality that can be heard in any format! This is complete with the original yellow record sleeve and near to perfect 1st issue unlaminated cover! Please note! Any avid collectors of Paul McCartney albums would be aware of how hard it is to find near perfect copies of this album. The vinyls playing surface on this vinyl is awesome there are (no) audio sounding marks or scratches at all!!
Wild Life is the debut album by Wings, engineered by Alan Parsons. It is also Paul McCartney's third album since the Beatles' breakup. Paul and Linda McCartney had worked with drummer Denny Seiwell on their prior album, Ram, and they added Denny Laine, the former leader of the Moody Blues, to that trio to become Wings!!!.
With a fresh set of McCartney/McCartney tunes, the newly formed Wings quickly recorded their debut that August with the mindset that it had to be instant and raw in order to capture the freshness and vitality of a live studio recording. Most of the songs were recorded in one take. Paul would later cite the quick recording schedule of Bob Dylan as an inspiration for this. Paul handled all lead vocals, sharing those duties with Linda on "I Am Your Singer"!!.
After a party announcing the band's formation that November, Wild Life appeared the following month to lukewarm commercial and critical reaction. The album reached #11 in the UK and #10 in the US, where it went gold!!!.
One notable song, "Dear Friend", apparently an attempt at reconciliation with John Lennon, was recorded during the Ram sessions!!!.
The liner notes for Wild Life (and on the Thrillington album) were credited to Clint Harrigan, but McCartney in 1990 admitted to journalist Peter Palmiere via an autograph request that he was Harrigan. Interesting enough, the first person who ever knew the identity of Harrigan was John Lennon who admitted as much during their Melody Maker feud in 1972!!!.
In addition to naming the previously hidden tracks, the original CD version added "Oh Woman, Oh Why" (the B-side of "Another Day"), "Mary Had a Little Lamb", and "Little Woman Love"!!!
All tracks written by Paul and Linda McCartney, except where noted.
- "Mumbo" – 3:53
- "Bip Bop" – 4:09
- "Love Is Strange" (Baker, Smith) – 4:49
- Originally projected as an early 1972 single but withdrawn before release
- Excerpts from this song are played in McCartney's 2001 documentary, Wingspan. It was featured in the scene where McCartney discussed Linda's love for reggae music and Jamaica.
- "Wild Life" – 6:39
- "Some People Never Know" – 6:36
- "I Am Your Singer" – 2:13
- "Bip Bop Link" – 0:48
- "Tomorrow" – 3:23
- "Dear Friend" – 5:46
- Not recorded in August of 1971, but in during the Ram sessions in New York City in November–December 1970.
- "Mumbo Link" – 0:45

On initial inspection this looks awesome! I can hardly see a blemish Still retains its original sheen from new! Only in strong light can possibly any (very few) light wispy surface marks\scuffs possibly be seen, mainly sleeve removal only and importantly (non) audio sounding that i heard! I can't see any audio sounding marks or scratches. All indications are that this vinyl has barely ever been played (please see photos)
The Audio Quality
I have played this through track for track prior to listing! at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies! it is awesome! (no) distortion or any signs of any groovewear at all! I heard no clicks or pops and more importantly i heard no background noise so common on these early 44 year old Beatles pressings! Very important to note! I have heard and own many, many original copies of this album, I have noticed that many suffer from a pressing fault\crackling during the track 'Michelle' Fortunately this vinyl does not suffer from this fault and believe me this is so rare to ever find like this! This plays almost perfect on my system! Audio Grades at least excellent plus,, very near mint in my opinion!
You will be hard pressed to find a better sounding original!
The Vinyl
On visual inspection this is of the original heavier and thicker vinyl and more robust than later pressings. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. This looks SUPERB (VERY NEAR PRISTINE) (no) audio sounding marks)still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. In strong light any other marks that could possibly be seen would have been caused by the record been slid in and out of its sleeve.
The Audio Quality
I have played this through track for track prior to listing at loud volume on a top system. The audio is superb, crystal clear and vibrant. There were no clicks pops or any jumps during the audio at all that I heard truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing.!!!!! (NO) Signs of groovewear at all This audio is graded at the very top!!!!(please note! this has only ever been played two or three times ever from new and stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover for protection , the way that I have always stored my records!)!!!!!! Please allow for the very odd bit of static type of tick on quieter sections, I really didn't hear anything though that detracted from the quality audio
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact hardly played are the audio quality superb on all frequencies
The labels
This features the apple records picture labels (photos by Linda McCartney) (ONLY THE EARLIEST PRESS). These are superb with virtually no spidering (in fact i can't really see any) (no) spindle ware!!!!!This vinyl has hardly been played at all!!! Unbelievable for 36 years old!
The record Sleeve
This is the original yellow sleeve great condition for the age just (very) slight fading discoloration and some storage wear and a small split to one edge. The vinyl is always stored separately from the sleeve and cover, this is how i have always stored my records!!!
The Cover
This is the original 1st issue, Unlaminated cover (printed in England) in awesome condition with (no) real storage wear to talk of indeed, the spine is absolutely near perfect!! (No) real creases worth to mention! Unbelievable for 36 years old like this!!! No splits or tares this is strong and straight! Please note! This is the original thicker type of material used only on the earliest pressings! The rear is exceptionally clean and white with just bare traces of discoloration with age only noticable if looked for. All writing is legible!! This must grade at least excellent plus to very near mint!!!!!
