PAUL McCARTNEY “McCartney II" 1980 White Label Promo! Santa Maria Press Vinyl NM
White Label Promotional Copy pressed at the CBS Santa Maria pressing plant. The vinyl looks pristine, no visible marks, has special white promotional labels, NM. The gatefold cover has very limited shelf wear, but no major creases or losses, a gold promotional stamp on the rear top left corner -EX. The white glossy inner sleeve has a bit of age yellowing, but no seam splits- EX. The inner sleeve has a black and white photo on one side, and lyrics in black on the other. Overall, a remarkable 43 year old 1st press promotional copy of this Lp.
The second solo studio album for Sir Paul. All instruments, and vocals performed by McCartney. The use of synthesizers and studio effects was a new creative process for Paul, and the album has New Wave and Electronica influences. At first, the album was not well received, and even though “Coming Up” was a major hit, sales were lackluster. Over time, the album has risen in esteem and is regarded as an important 80s work, with influence even today in the “bedroom pop” movement. This white label first press has to be one of the finest vintage copies available to purchase.
