McCartney A2/B2 1st Press

This first pressing plays with excellent audio overall.  With only two stampers on each side it is a relatively early first pressing also.  The laminated gatefold is in superb condition with hardly any shelf wear.

 Visual grading

  Overall this vinyl is in excellent condition and still retains a glossy sheen.  S1 especially is in great order with only a small number of faint hairlines.  S2 does have a thicker hairline type mark across the first two tracks and a band of faint hairlines also but these have no affect on the audio.

Play grading

S1 opens with 'The Lovely Linda' which plays with wonderful clarity and no clicks or pops.  There is minimal background static which is totally non-intrusive.  'That Would Be Something' is very impressive with only a touch of static on the intro.  The remainder plays with sublime quality and superb definition.  Such strong bass sound here as you expect I guess!  The 'Valentine Day' instrumental plays faultlessly with near perfect audio.  'Every Night' is another 'high end' listen and again plays with supreme clarity and there is no intrusive interference of any kind.  So far the audio on this first pressing is of a very high standard and it is worth reiterating I have not heard a single click or pop and there is certainly no crackle.  The 'Hot As Sun' instrumental plays fantastically well but there is some static on the 'Glasses' section at the end.  'Junk' plays in a similar way.  It still has very clear audio with no clicks or pops but there is some light static to be heard.  'Man He Was Lonely' ends the side with a little more static on the intro.  This track plays well but there is some static distortion on the vocal which is common with any final track on a side.  The music itself plays without fault.

'Oo You' on S2 plays to an excellent standard and barely any static.  'Momma Miss America' displays great sonic quality.  A touch of static yes but the clarity of all the instruments is first class.  'Teddy Boy' has some ubiquitous static in the background again but there are no clicks or pops.  The remaining tracks on this side play with a similar quality.  'Maybe I'm Amazed' is very impressive in that there is no distortion on the top end.  The quiet 'Kreen - Akrore' instrumental ends the album in fine style with very little 'background'.

The Gatefold

The fully laminated cover is in lovely condition with hardly any wear.  The edges and spine are in superb shape with no rubbing at all and there is no corner wear.  The opening edges have no handling wear at all.  The front cover is so clean and the back equally so with only a couple of small laminate creases and four even smaller ones next to the spine.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate with no marking anywhere.  Overall this is a superb example of this cover.

Inner sleeve

The plain white die-cut inner sleeve has no splits or tears and only a couple of minor marks.

The labels

The 'Apple' labels are in superb order with no marking/writing and hardly any spindle wear either.  The run out grooves are mega clean also.
