ONLY BOOT COPY ON EBAY AS OF 8-11-16.
This is one of the 1991 bootleg copies of the rare 1971 promo one sided 12” vinyl LP for Paul and Linda McCartney‘s “Ram” LP titled ‘Brung To Ewe By Ram’. An original pressing from 1971 sold at an eBay auction for almost $2000 in 2012.
NOTE: The bootlegs are gaining in value every year, though obviously not the $2K of the original.
One-sided only, the 12-inch wax was distributed to radio stations across the nation to promote the album ‘Ram’ some four decades ago. It contains 15 different introductions, all 30-60 seconds in length and designed to be played between each of the songs. The eBay seller, vintage vinyl retailer Parlogram, points out that the intros found here were recorded in the studio during the ‘Ram’ sessions — but disappointingly, aren’t included in full on the new deluxe ‘Ram’ re-issue.
The auctioned copy is legit as there are pauses between each of the tracks for the disc jockey’s convenience (whereas the bootleg copies play straight through without the breaks – this copy plays straight through so we know it’s a boot). Additionally, the spaces between the tracks were equal in width on the original but are of different widths on the boot. The original copies came complete with two letter inserts Xeroxed on “gold crest bond” watermarked paper. Interestingly, this boot copy has the two letters included and they are printed on “gold crest bond paper”.
