All the vinyl ESP-Disk records are special artifacts at this point; real folk art objects with deep commitment to experimental jazz. It freed Sun Ra to do exactly what he needed to do, and he freed other performers.
This one Patty Waters album (her only release for decades) has been legend since it came out--she wrote all but one of the songs, and yes they're beautiful, spooky, it's very strange and exposed singing...but the cut everybody talks about is the whole of Side 2, a 13-minute rendition of "Black is the color of my true love's hair." This is incredible, theatrical, harrowing, unforgettable.
She recorded the whole album in one day, December 19, 1965. There's nothing else like it.
The record was pressed in 1966, and there was no further US edition until the CD came out in 2009! So for a very long time, this was it.
It's still here. I'll copypaste from the Condition field: VG vinyl with mild steady surface sound (only very occasional pops or clicks though). The surface gets better as the side goes on, in both sides. The sleeve shows wear but is still solid; VG+ (back is cleaner than the front).
