PATTO-HOLD YOUR FIRE-RARE UK VERTIGO SWIRL LP 1971 GIMMIX GATEFOLD COVER – ORIG. SWIRL INNER SLEEVE   Artists: PATTO

Album Title: HOLD YOUR FIRE

Up for auction here is an ultra-rare UK VERTIGO SWIRL LABEL Original of PATTO’s second album *HOLD YOUR FIRE*. It was released on the UK VERTIGO SWIRL LABEL back in 1971. It is housed in the famous GIMMIX FOLD-OUT COVER and comes along with the original SWIRL inner sleeve. It is listed in Hans Pokora’s Record Collector Dreams Book. The highly fragile cover is unfortunately not in Mint condition. The record plays a strong EX. (for more detailed description of both, please see below)

Track listing: Side A:   Hold Your Fire; You, You Point Your Finger; How’s Your Father; See You At The Dance Tonight  Side B:  Give it All Away; Air Raid Shelter; Tell me Where You’ve Been; Magic Door

Label: VERTIGO (the highly collectibel SWIRL-Label!)

Cover Grade:   VG-  The famous but very fragile gimmix fold-out cover is free from any writings and still quite clean. It has two (price tag-/shop-) tears, one on front side upper left and the other on the upper right side. Both the spine and the right side seams are neatly taped with clear/transparent adhesive tape. This taping was obviously made to protect the three-part front gimmixes from tearing away from the rest of the cover. On the mainly black back side of the cover there is some minor ringwear. Top and bottom seams show some very light fraying. The printing on the spine is still clearly visible underneath the taping. I do grade the cover overall as VG. So if you expect a MINT cover do not go for it. Nevertheless after almost 40 years of age I consider this fragile gimmix cover in collectable condition still.

Record Grade:  EX   The SWIRL-Label record has some very superficial hairlines on side A. Moreover there is another superficial hairline all across side 2. This hairline is not audible nor does affect play in any way. I have test played the record on my Thorens 320 turntable equipped with the highly delicate SHURE MR V5 pick-up system and it played EX with occasional very light background noise audible during the few quiet passages and in between the tracks only. All in all a record in very collectable condition still; housed in its original SWIRL Label inner sleeve!
