ORIGINAL USA LP PRESSING

Gatefold sleeve

"Patto was a short-lived English group, basically belonging to the progressive rock scene, and commanded by Mike Patto on vocals and Ollie Hallsall on guitar and vibraphone; this eponymous, first disc from 1970 is to some extent varied, featuring blues rock, a little of progressive, and also some hard rock cut a la Led Zeppelin (Red glow, Sittin' back easy). The jazzy touch is pretty present in this 'Patto', especially in 'San Antone' and the long 'Money bag', having, this latter, curious reminiscences of Soft Machine. On the other hand, tunes like 'The man' or 'Hold me back' are more indistinctly bluesy, with a slight funky taste intertwined in them. The tracks to mention here would be the folkish 'Time to die' and the aforementioned 'Money bag', featuring also a fine album cover. Patto would record a couple of albums more after this one, and finally disband in 1973
