From 1974, out of New Yorck City, comes Patti Smith with her single,Hey Joe b/w Piss Factory on Mer 601. The original label for this single, this was her first single! This was gotten from the collection of someone who had been a DJ at Columbia University,NYC in the mid 70's. Also included here is DJ press sheet from Wartoke Concern Inc.Public Relations letterhead. These were the same people who put out the Mer single. It reads, "For immediate release please! Patti Smith headlines Max's August 28-Sept.2, 1 week only. Patti Smith will headline a week at Max's Kansas City beginning Weds. Aug.28 through Monday Sept. 2nd. Featuring Lenny Kaye and Richard Sohl, the Mer Records recording artists will perform two sets nightly at 9:30 and 11:30 PM. Also, opening the bill is the new high energy rock band,Television." Also included here is an original 1974 poster of Patti Smith which features a picture of her and a picture of the band Television. It advertises them as featured at Max's Kansas City Weds.August 28-Monday Sept.2nd. This poster was folded and mailed to the DJ. He wrote contact information on the rear of the poster.
Tom Verlaine of the band Television plays lead guitar on the Hey Joe recording. Television was also a Mer artist.
