Up for auction is this original, long out-of-print Music Direct/Premonition Black Label 1998 release of Patricia Barber's "Modern Cool" 180gram Audiophile Vinyl LP (PREM 741-1).
This long-awaited follow-up to her now audiophile jazz classsic "Cafe Blue" is yet another wonderfully rich and haunting musical exploration that's so unique in Ms. Barber's musical landscape. The eight tracks featured in this edition contains six Barber original compositions, and two covers including an exceptional rendition of The Doors' "Light My Fire."
As pictured, this copy is stone Near Mint. The vinyl itself is NM, with no label spindle marks, groove scuff or hairline scratches---it's absolutely flawless! Comes with the original anti-static inner sleeve and insert. The only small flaw is on the top left corner of the jacket, which has a minor crease which occured when shipped from Music Direct, where this was originally purchased in 1998.
Needless to say, the term audiophile classic doesn't begin to describe the incredible sonics of this recording. Whether you own a Linn LP12, VPI, Rega, Music Hall, or even a high end Technics Direct-Drive table, the sound will simply blow you away! Enough so that this title has been re-issued in the more sought after (and very expensive) Mobile Fidelity pressings.
