 A truly excellent (at least) condition copy of this increasingly rare and highly sought after 1969 UK 1st press prog/psych gem, on the coveted Harvest label, STEREO, SHVL 753

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1 SHVL 753 A - 1G with stampers "1" and "A" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock

Side 2   SHVL 753 B - 1G with stampers "1" and "G" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock

In normal daylight the appearance of the vinyl is near mint (NM). Gleaming, completely flat and heavy duty vinyl with jet black lacquering and a beautiful sheen...both sides of the vinyl look virtually like new! Very close scrutiny under a bright light does reveal a few very light and wispy hairlines and barely detectable small paper scuffs on each side, along with x2 4cm thin "shadow" lines on side 2 - all very superficial, certainly nothing feelable or below the surface, and you will need to look closely to detect these even these very minor glitches even when viewed under a bright light! Overall I would grade the condition of the vinyl as a very solid excellent (EX) which clearly has been sparingly played.

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). Beautiful labels with all black text, all colouring, and the iconic green HARVEST writing and logot remaining in perfect condition, along with the similarly impressive smooth yellow background. There are just a couple of very, very faint and small spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each side and if you tilt the labels to the right angle in a bright light it is just possible to make out a couple of small areas of discolouration on each side, but in normal daylight these are barely detectable and I'm guessing that you wouldn't even notice these if I hadn't pointed them out here. Beautiful labels.

The condition of the iconic E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve is a strong excellent (EX). Beautiful art work and colouring, still completely intact with rich, vibrant and clear colouring still. The inside of the gatefold is near perfect - hard to fault in any way actually. All edges remain firm with no scuffing, and the corners remain nicely defined right angles with minimal rubbing only. The only blemishes are : a 1.5cm vertical edge scuff on the front side at the bottom right corner, x3 1.5cm horizontal surface laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on the front side, one of which does slightly impinge upon the spine (between the "d" and "J" on the spine text) but does NOT weaken the spine itself which remains nicely rigid, and a small 2x4mm "nick" just above the centre point on the reverse side. There is no laminate lifting and no creasing at all, and not even the hint of any fraying on the opening edges- amazing for a 50 year old antiquity such as this.

Finally, the quality of the audio is brilliant. Terrific audio reproduction with great tone and clarity throughout - no clicks, no skips, no jumps, no repeats, no crackle or background interference. It's hard to categorise the music genre of the Panama Limited jug Band...folk, psych, rock, retro, even eccentric - you name it, and it's here somewhere. A wonderful LP with every track making for a fascinating listen.

Comes with original plain white inner sleeve with no tears, splits, creasing or unwanted writing. Note the "PATENT APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" horizontal text at the foot of the front side, still all perfectly intact. I always post the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly impressive condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1969 UK very 1st press folk/rock/psych gem, with brilliant condition vinyl and near perfect audio quality - worthy of gracing any vinyl collection and only continuing to increase in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
