Label:   DERAM.  Original stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl.  Label is white and red with black text.  Catalog number is DES-18040.

Year:  1970

Background:   UK band formed in the late 60s, comprised of Barry Reynolds (guitar/vocals), Brian Shapman (keyboards/vocals), Graham Harrop (bass) and Lawrence Arendes, a.k.a. Larry King (drums).  King, formerly of Liverpool’s Wimple Winch, founded this new quartet from the ashes of Sponge, a jazz rock unit that imploded when saxophonist Jack Lancaster left in 1968 to join Blodwyn Pig. The quartet’s debut single, a version of Spirit’s ‘Water Woman’, was followed by a self-titled album in 1970. However, although they appeared live at the requisite underground haunts and festivals, Pacific Drift were unable to sustain a career and split up by the end of the year.

Condition: 

DISC:  NM-/EXCELLENT with full original gloss.  Has been played a small number of times and handled with care.  There are a couple very slight cosmetic scuffs but no serious or audible marks or issues.  Plays beautifully with superb fidelity.  Labels are clean.  This scarce LP is one that you will never need to upgrade.      

JACKET:   Jacket has noticeable shelf wear, but is still quite presentable.    Some ring wear and surface wear are beginning to show on both front and reverse.  Also, seams and spine display some wear, including a small split (approximately 2”) at top of spine.  The original promotional sticker is affixed to the front at bottom right, with radio call letters “WAMU” written across the sticker; also a label with handwritten notation “Prog Rock” is affixed to the front panel at top left corner.  Radio station call letters “WAMU” are written in two places on reverse panel.  Far from perfect, but this is what most radio station copies looked like back in the day. 

Includes original vintage LONDON DERAM factory inner sleeve in excellent condition.
