Vaclav Nelhybel: Outer Space Music. Folkways FTS 33440

Ultra-rare 1974 sci-fi-themed early electronic lp, one of the hardest to find of all Folkways releases, in amazing perfect still-sealed condition. Obscure Czech composer Nelhybel offers up 21 brief electronic tracks recorded in 1959 (but never released until this lp), meant to convey atmospheric spaciness and aid in mind-expanding journeys before the term "psychedelic" was even on the radar of most listeners. From the notes: "Ingenious use of echo, artificial reverberation and electronic alterations gives the music in this category a weird, spooky futuristic, 'out of this world' quality, well-suited to super-natural happenings of any kind. Piano, drums, and electronic instruments are used to achieve the strange atmosphere and spatial sound." I'm fairly certain I hear a heavily processed Ondes Martenot used throughout. This actually seems to be a kind of library lp (Nelhybel became somewhat known for his contributions to production library music albums), with mood descriptions provided for each track like "weird drum sound; cosmic mirage in the making", "unearthly explosions; slow, suspenseful, mystifying sounds", "weird melodic strains with heavy rhythm chords underneath; strangely dramatic", etc. Track names are: Strange Eruptions; Nebulae; Cosmic Cycle; Space Meteors; Star Clusters; Song of the Spheres; Cosmic Twilight; Mars Craters; Cosmic Fright; Space Ship; Pulse of the Universe; Sun Lava; Ionosphere; Dark Cosmic Clouds; Cosmic Dawn; Interplanetary Journey; Voices from Outer Space; Vibrations in Outer Space; Cosmic Breath; Space Spirals; Atmospheric Reactions.

Packing - I pack professionally and adequately using new record mailers exclusively from Cameron Packaging (which I have determined are the best and most protective). For used lps, I remove the lp and inserts from the jacket, cover it in a layer of bubble wrap, and then reinforce it with a cardboard insert. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
