Orquesta Dee Jay "Pa 'Alante" LP MGM Records Latino Series cat # LAT 10.002 M-G-M Special Disc Jockey Record, Yellow Label (1970)
Debut recording of the much heralded early 1970s NYV band that gave the established names a run for their money enjoying immense popularity before disbanding in the mid 70s. Led by George "Dee Jay" de Jesus, the band featured the pianist from the Johnny Bronco group, Mario "Del Barrio" Marrero, now Eddie "Gua Gua" Rivera's pianist in So Flo and the young sonero Rafael de Jesus(no relation) This session was produced by the extraordinaire Ralph Lew. This is the extra hard-to-find Disc Jockey pressing with special yellow record label and a DJ sticker on back cover's upper right hand corner as seen in photo.
Side One Las Malas Lenguas Black Shadow Campesino Cuba Side Two Camagüela Ye-Ma-Ya Te Traigo La Jara Vinyl is VG++, in superb condition, with all of its original lustre. Record jacket is in fair condition, top edge has some slight paper tearing, side edge shows some wear towards bottom but album info is nearly intact, bottom edge shows some slight paper tearing. Corners show slight wear. Front cover has obviuos spotting and discoloration of white background as seen in photo, 3 very small grey marks towards upper right hand corner and some record rub wear is visible around the dial. Back cover also shows some record rub wear towards top edge and towards record slot, there's some rub marks towards bottom edge with a 1/2inch paper tear along bottom edge exposing cardboard underneath. As seen in photo, 5 of the track listings have ball point pen written descriptions of the songs e.g piano solo, conga solo, timbales solo. The intials MM are written below one of the group's members-obviously identifying Mario Marrero-the pianist.
