Description

ORNETTE COLEMAN       The Empty Foxhole          Blue Note BST 84246
Up for auction is a first Blue Note Liberty repress (Southern Plastics press?) circa 1968 of Ornette Coleman's groundbreaking debut STUDIO effort for Blue Note "The Empty Foxhole". Recorded in fall 1966, this rather dense lp was a bit of an enigma upon release. However, as the hype sticker on the front notes, Hi Fi/Stereo Review rated it the top jazz release of 1967. Features a 12 year old Denardo Coleman on drums. More than a few people struggled to reconcile with this. I JUST OPENED THIS LAST YEAR, AND PLAYED IT EXACTLY ONCE THROUGH. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BLUE NOTES THAT I HAVE EVER LISTED IN TERMS OF CONDITION.
DEAD WAX INFO:  Side 1 has BNST 842436-A etched, and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNST 84246-B etched, and VAN GELDER stamped into the dead wax. First Liberty Stereo repress, circa 1968.   VINYL VISUAL: NM with nothing worth mention. Glossy unmarked vinyl and strong unmarked labels.
VINYL PLAY GRADE:  NM with AS NEW FIDELITY and almost no noise. London Jazz Collector claims these type of pressings to possibly be pressed at Southern Plastics (in Tennessee).
COVER VISUAL: VG+ AND BETTER with full shrink, HI FI/Stereo Review hype sticker and price sticker as well. One dinged corner. A wee bit of dirt where shrink had receded (It was REALLY tight when I opened it last summer). PLEASE SEE PICTURES.
Comes with original Liberty printed paper inner (NM) Vinyl is housed in an Audiophile style rice plastic inner put into a plain die-cut paper inner as well.    DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING
HELLO ALL. My name is Jamie, and I have been collecting records steadily for over 45 years.  After a bit of a respite from selling on Ebay, I am back and will be selling a ton of stuff over the next few years. My tastes run all over the map, so there will be something for everyone. All opened items will be visually AND aurally graded. All Dead Wax info will be listed. Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item)
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER).             Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.
If you have issue with an item, PLEASE work with me to achieve an outcome that will be to your satisfaction. I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory.       SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis. THANKS FOR READING, everyone.       Occasionally I will be selling rare and collectible CDs. Shipping obviously will be much less, around $5 CANADIAN within North America.
