Original mono pressing 12” vinyl LP of the jazz classic The Happy Blues from saxophonist Gene Ammons and his All Stars (Gene Ammons - tenor sax, Art Farmer - trumpet, Jackie McLean - alto sax, Duke Jordan - piano, Addison Farmer - bass, Art Taylor - drums, Candido - conga).
Originally recorded in 1956, this early reissue was released by Prestige Records in 1960 (PRLP-7039). Allmusic awarded the album 5 stars with its review by Scott Yanow stating, "This is one of the great studio jam sessions... a highly recommended set."
Media Condition Vinyl: Conservatively graded as Very Good (VG) – Vinyl has some noticeable scratches and scuffs that cause minor surface noise, but do not overpower the music. Record was tested and there are no skips. Vinyl still has good luster. LP labels are very clean, yellow and black Prestige fireworks label with Bergenfield address. Note the use of Hi Fi on the label instead of Hi Fidelity or High Fidelity tend to be found on later releases.
Sleeve Condition: Conservatively graded as Very Good (VG) – Cover is clean and still attractive, shows slight wear and light staining. Discoloration from age is visible on back cover along with some very minor staining. Seam wear including some small tears and fraying near and on corners.
Photos show front & back cover, both sides of vinyl and both LP labels. The record you see is the record you get.
