Description
This is an original, January 1964 Capitol Records mono pressing of Meet The Beatles.
The disc has no ASCAP or BMI labels, which was only the case on the very first pressing which lasted from January 9, 1964 to early February, 1964 and was produced only at the Scranton, PA plant. As such these "No BMI" copies are extremely rare.
This record is in very good shape with a few, minor flaws which are all pictured:
1. There is a name written on the back of the sleeve in very light, blue ink.
2. On the front of the sleeve, above the A and the T in "Beatles," it looks like another name was rubbed off, which took some of the thin, black line with it. This was drawn back in in pen ink.
3. A name is written on the label on side 2 of the disc in pen ink. This is very hard to see as it's written on the black part of the label.
The disc is clean and free of scratches. There is a "pinky print" sized area on side 2 which looks slightly discolored, but has no effect on the sound. There is now a picture that shows this defect.
A request was made to picture the shine on this record. I've done this as well as I can...I believe you can see that the original shine is still intact.
The sleeve (aside from the writing) is in fantastic shape, with little to no ringwear and no splits in the edges.
The inner, paper sleeve is in good shape, with the orange, '66 Preview albums from Capitol. One side of the paper sleeve has come unglued (NOT the cardboard, outer sleeve) and needs to be glued back or replaced.
If you have any questions or would like any additional areas photographed, please feel free to ask.
