Extremely Rare Original Rejected A-28 Matrix U.S. Pressing Of The Beatles White Album LP (Apple Records) VG-

Here's a rare opportunity to own the record that George Harrison didn't want you to hear!  A record so rare, there are fewer than two dozen confirmed copies in existence.  As the story goes, just prior to the release of 'The Beatles' self-titled double LP (which is now universally known as "The White Album"), George Harrison flew out to Los Angeles.  While there, he visited Capitol Records LA plant to listen to advance pressings of the record.  He was horrified by what he heard.  The album had compression and limitation added which altered the sound of what The Beatles' had intended and George set about remastering the entire album.  The first set of lacquers (33 in total) that were used to press the albums were ordered to be destroyed along with any records that may have been pressed.  That, it would seem, was that...except…

A few copies of the rejected album DID mistakenly get released!  The way to tell is by checking the matrix in the run-out groove for a number lower than 34. No copies of this pressing were known to exist prior to 2007.  A handful have been discovered in the intervening years.  Fewer than two dozen total are known to exist today.  Here's your chance to own one of them.  Disc two on this set has the following matrix numbers:  A-28 / A-28.  Disc one is the standard pressing and has J-45 / J-46 for its matrix numbers.

Both records grade VG- and play great with no skips.  It should be noted that the labels (which are VG+)   has the error associated with first pressings ("Revolution No. 1" instead of "Revolution 1).

The cover is quite decent and grades VG+.  It does have a 1-1/2" split extending from the upper right corner in the first pocket.  The cover is mostly still very white and glossy.

Serial number on this copy is A2130886.  The poster and four insert photos are included and they grade VG overall. The George photo has a 1-1/2" water stain and the Paul photo has a small (1/4" x 1/2") rip in the upper right corner.   See attached photos and happy bidding!
