THESE 5 DISCS ARE ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY. THESE ARE 65 YEARS OLD AND ARE GUARANTEED ORIGINAL WITH THE PROPER PUSH MARKS AND DEAD WAX MARKINGS.
209 and 210 (and I was told 215 as well but I'm not sure I agree) were cut with 78 rpm needles and play best with a 78 rpm needle. Playing with a 45 (microgroove/vinyl) needle is fine, but there will be some added "Sun Hiss" that will be lessened by playing with a 78 rpm needle. If you don't have one, it's worth investing in one I think, to listen to the first 2! (This article has a little more information on the Sun "Hiss": https://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/elvis-presley-sun-records-and-push-marks/ ) I'd wager 85% of collectors don't realize these should be played with 78 needles and just think its a result of the age/technology of the records!)
Individual Description, visual and aural:
209 is the rough one of the bunch! Scale of 1-10, it's about a 4 / 10. It has ok gloss and the music and vocals are bright but has lots of scratches/scuffs and plays with causes some noise/clicks/pops but plays through fine with no skips or jumps, and for a 65 year old record, is a fun listen! Plays best with a 78 rpm needle. Using a 45 rpm needle will have the additional Sun Hiss.
210 is nicer - has more gloss, less scratches, plays better, about 6 or 7/10 or better with a 78 rpm needle. About a 6 out of 10 with a 78 rpm needle. The music is clear, what a great 2 sided record! Maybe the best one!
215 has good goss, plays well, glossy about 6 out of 10 or better, vocals are nice and clear, light background. I personally feel the 45 rpm needle sounds best here. The 78rpm needle has less noise but also sounds a little bit muffled to my ears.
217 is nice and glossy, plays about 8/10 with a 45 rpm needle! One side (Baby Let's Play House) does have some dots of some type on it early that swooshes some (the issue is visible in the picture, but there's a glare right where the issue is that really hightlights it!) You can hear it if you're listening for it but if you're just listening to the music it's fine! It only affects the one side. Other side sounds nice! Plays best with a 45 rpm needle!
223 is very glossy plays super! It has a noticeable warp that tracks fine and plays with VERY nice fidelity, so bright and clear very low noise. Plays best with a 45 rpm needle!
