Description
Here we have an original 1st pressing (1 of 5000) of Electricity by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark. Housed in black on black thermographic sleeve, it’s distinctive artwork designed by Peter Saville. Printed, hand folded and glued by John Roberts and Sons Printers, Chapel Street, Salford. This pressing was never intended to be a limited edition back in 1979. Due to the intense heat required during the thermographic printing of the sleeves, the printing press actually caught fire. After this happened for a third time, the printers called it a day and wouldn't continue with the order. This copy has the A side label applied to both sides in error, hence the ‘A’ has been marked out on the B side with a marker pen (presumably when originally sold). There is a small letter J marking in biro, close to the centre spindle hole on the A side label. The disc is in otherwise excellent condition. The matt outer sleeve shows some signs of storage wear, please refer to the photos. It is however compete, and presentable.
