Old And In The Way was a bluegrass supergroup that formed in 1973 and did 49 shows from 3/2/73-4/28/74. This live recording is from the the show at Colorado State 11/4/1973. The group members were:

This was a time, late sixties and seventies that every Head Shop had a selection of live or other unreleased bootleg recordings on vinyl. Sometimes the only way to hear live recordings of touring band were these bootleg LPs. Tape sharing was limited then. This rare album preceded the Round Records “Old And In The Way” release by a year. For many Dead Heads, counter culture types, and teens, Old And In The Way was their introduction to a lifetime appreciation of Bluegrass music. Banjo was Jerry Garcia’s first instrument of mastery, and you can hear the joy he has playing and singing with these acoustic greats.


The vinyl of this almost 50 year old package looks great, no scratches or visible marks. The cover is a simple black ink over white and there is some yellowing, a crease or two, small corner dings, but overall in remarkable shape.


This Lp is something rare.
