Description

Danny Jones + George Louis and his New Orleans Four: Tore Up / Hobo.  J & S 4574, strong VG condition with light groove wear, good gloss and Iight inaudible surface scratches; labels as pictured.

I don't know what to make of this one; spent 15 minutes on the net searching on various combinations of J&S, Danny Jones, George Louis and/or Zell Sanders and came up empty.  Jones is a blues shouter and the band is tenor sax, pno, gtr and dms.  They may or not be from New Orleans.  It's a rough performance ("Hobo" is an instrumental) and if these guys were a bar band, they probably played in joints where I wouldn't feel welcomed.  (I'm thinking of the scene in Cadillac Records where Howlin' Wolf cold-cocks the guy who pulls a gun on Muddy Waters during a set.)  The issue number seems totally out-of-line with the rest of the J & S catalog (Johnnie and Joe, Hearts, et. al.)  "Tore Up" is not the Sleepy LaBeef song.   And while the mx #s on the labels match the dead wax, the "Hobo" side plays "Tore Up" and vice-versa.  I'm guessing early 60s, but who knows?
