Description

**Highly collectable holy grail for Oasis collectors**
This is probably as rare as they come and you will not see another one of these any time soon!
This is an auction for a one off original text cut acetate of the Oasis LP What's the story morning glory
This is not a Dubplate it is a test cut made in the original mastering process and normally used to play to the artist to check the "sound" of the final cut before it is sent to the pressing plant.
Acetates and dubplates are different in the aspect that Dubplates (Cut by DJ's) are actually cut from second grade acetates - these are spotted by an extra centre hole being drilled in them at the acetate manufacturers - this acetate does NOT have two centre holes only the one determining that this is a test cut made by the engineer for test listening before the final cut.
This is not the master plate that would have had the original LP stampers cut from as they are cut on 2" larger plates (14" for 12" records, 12" for 10" records etc etc)
This acetate COULD have different mixes on than what were released on the finished LP - Engineers use these test plates to play to artists and / or label owners to see if they are happy with the vinyl masters - It is certainly likely that this could contain differently EQ'ed versions than what made it onto the final cut!!!!
At some point in its life this would have been played to someone of significant importance in the process such as Noel or someone high up at the label
When this come into my possession I contacted the mastering engineer for the vinyl on this project via Myspace who confirmed its was cut by him but obviously knows that this is a pretty collectable and rare slab of wax and would not comment any further on it lol

This is the A and B side of the LP ONLY on ONE 12" acetate

How did I get my hands on it? I run an independent dance music label and when I got a box of metal stampers returned from the pressing plant this acetate was bolted in the box being the curious person I am I unbolted it and listened to it which is when I found out what it was!

It is quite common for these test cuts to be bolted into master plate boxes to protect the plates inside - Normally the engineers will scratch the surface to render them useless but in this case it was left untouched.

The box would have then been sent to the pressing plant and then reused by the pressing plant - again a common occurrence

It has been in my possession for nearly 7 years now and TBH I forgot about it until I sold my record collection last week when it turned up in a pile of other acetates

I have had this item appraised at two independent music specialists and the start price is well below what I have been told it COULD reach if put into auction!

I am open to sensible offers on a buy it now so please do get in touch

Due to bootleggers I will not provide audio

**This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own something VERY rare**

I reserve the right to close auction early - Am not in a hurry to sell and will put into specialist auction house auction if it does not sell on here

***Message me for any info am happy to help***

Condition

Surface marks - Little to none, There are no scratches but a few LIGHT marks normal with age

There are no jumps and it plays from start to stop on both sides

Item is dusty and could do with proper cleaning - Suggest lighter fluid and soft duster

There is a white blemish on the A Side - this is in the actual acetate and does not affect play - can be seen in the picture

"A" and "B" is lightly marked on the centre near the spinal hole - not heavy marking just a very light mark on both sides

This is an ACETATE not a pressed record so obviously sound will deteriorate over time but this is not something that has started to happen ALTHOUGH item is dusty so noise from dust is evident when playing - A good clean should rectify this

Comes in plain sleeve
