JMS Records offers rare Otis Williams and His Charms LP
Greatest hits of 1950s Doo-wop group. Rare!
This King LP, #570, monaural, contains 12 doo-wop and early rock songs including Hearts of Stone, Ko-Ko-Mo, Ling Ting Tong, Two Hearts and 8 more. These songs were recorded throughout the 1950s and released on 45s. At some point, in the late 1950s or early 1960s, they were collected into this album.
We think this is a later pressing of the original album on the blue King label. The jacket looks original, with no date, no zip code in the address of King Records, and advertisements on the back for period titles of the 1950s. However, the record's blue label shows a postal zip code in the address of King Records (though the jacket does not). Postal Zip Codes began to be used in 1963. We think this is a 1960s pressing of the original record, using the original jacket that was printed before the use of Zip Codes.
The vinyl probably is unplayed, and certainly no more than very rarely played; it looks new. The jacket is very attractive, with neglible shelf wear.
We discovered, while researching this album, that Yorklyn Records has a copy of this record, according to a listing at www.gemm.com, that is in similar condition and is priced at $920. Time Square Records has a similar record, in lesser condition, for $400 according to www.musicstack.com. We also learned that there have been reissues of this album, but they are on the Sing label.
