Otis Redding - The Soul Album Promo Sampler EP

Insanely-RARE 6-track, 33-rpm, 7-inch EP created exclusively for use in jukeboxes to promote Redding's then-upcoming Soul Album - in STEREO, no less!

The jacket features an exact recreation of the regular LP front-cover artwork (even the catalog number is unchanged), albeit reduced in scale from 12x12" to 7x7" (or so). The back side and spine are blank.

The EP itself contains the following tracks: "Just One More Day", "It's Growing", and "Treat Her Right" on Side 1; "Any Ole Way", "634-5789", and "Scratch My Back" on Side 2. The labels show the actual catalog number for this EP, SD 70413 (the LP was NEVER released with this catalog number).

This is a guaranteed 100%-original 1966 US promotional pressing on Volt Records - it is NOT in anyway a repressing or some hokey third-party re-interpretation of the full-length LP as a condensed EP!

Included are the original ream of five jukebox title strips (pressed by Star Title Strip Co., Inc., formerly of Pittsburgh), and a miniature mock-up of the front cover art, which was no doubt created to be inserted alongside a strip inside a jukebox display to show prospective customers what the album looked like.

Please note that, although the release is in no way labeled as promotional, we are quite familiar with the jukebox album sampler EP format, and can guarantee it was created for no other purpose than promotion. The jukebox strips and album cover mock-up validate our claim.

Jacket Grade: NM - Truly gorgeous! Incredibly crisp, with the white parts all looking very white and the colors in the front cover photo remaining vivid. Our only complaint is some very subtle ringwear on the blank white background, which is so mild that we can in no way find it suitable to down-grade to EX. Our photos speak for themselves!

Vinyl Grade: NM - Still extremely glossy with blemish-free labels! Close inspection under strong and direct light reveals only the faintest dust-sleeve-friction marks, but they in no way rob the vinyl of its beauty. Possibly unplayed! In fact, we suspect that this copy never actually saw action in a jukebox - jukebox records NEVER look this clean!
