You are bidding on: Otis Blue (Otis Redding Sings Soul)
By
Otis Redding
All of the records that I am listing are from my own collection accumulated during the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. They have only ever been played on my faithful Garrard 401/SME Series 2 arm combination. They have been stored in boxes for the past 20 years or so, and having now sold my 401 and SME, it is time to free the space used by these 6 or 7 boxes of LP’s, possible 1,000 in total. Many are first press and in good condition. If I mark a record as MINT then it has never been played. Anything marked as Nr MINT has probably only been played twice – once to record it to tape, and second to check it for this listing. Anything marked as EXCELLENT or above will sound as original.
For the techy collectors records are graded according to the standard Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide grading system. I aim for accurate grading and my feedback attests to the accuracy of my descriptions. I keep extensive photos and notes on each item, but if I do make a mistake, you are protected by my no genuine quibble guarantee.
Label: Atlantic
Catalogue No.: 587036 mono (reissue)
Year: 1966
Matrix Nos: 587036 A1, 587036 B2 - 1st Press
Vinyl: Heavy – Few hairlines, otherwise pristine - excellent
Audio: As near mint as you can get. Fabulous sound after 32 years
Labels: One small area of evidence of play around spindle hole on side 2, otherwise excellent
Outer Sleeve: Earnest J Day laminated sleeve. Fantastic condition, minor scuff on spine, otherwise excellent.
Inner Sleeve: Plain – original - excellent
Other: I do not think that you will find a better package than this – unless you have a virgin mint copy
I have played each record to test for crackle, pops, and jumps, and would report anything out of the norm considering the age of the vinyl.
All pictures are of the item that you are bidding on.
I get a number of questions from non-UK countries who want to know what the grading terms mean so for those who do not know the grading system:
MINT VINYL: The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound.
MINT SLEEVE: The sleeve and any extra items such as lyric sheet, poster, booklet, etc are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT VINYL: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
EXCELLENT SLEEVE: The sleeve, packaging and inserts might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD VINYL: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
VERY GOOD SLEEVE: Normal wear and tear on the cover and/or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Clearly there are wide gaps in these definitions thus, for example, you will see Nr Mint which would indicate that it may have been played just a few times without any deterioration, or Excellent+ which is a little below Nr Mint.
All albums are packed in a plastic sleeve and are posted in a purpose made premium quality mailer, with stiffeners and marked ‘Fragile, Handle with care’. Boxed sets will be packed in an outer protective box. Combined postage for multiple items is available upon request.
Any special packing requests by buyers will be costed at cost, including packaging, and agreed with buyer prior to accepting such requests. Stated P&P costs are based on a safe packing method to keep these records safe in transit. However some collectors do have their own ideas on packing, and this paragraph is for such buyers.
Any item will be posted in the UK as 1st Class Recorded (see postage charges) for the protection of both parties. Over £50 will be Next Day Special Delivery. Postage for outside of mainland UK will depend on bid price and country, but will preferred to be ‘signed for’. Extra insurance can be requested by the buyer for countries not covered under standard UK insurance protection. My normal mailings have £36 of insurance. For purchases above this level I will indicate the optional amount to increase the insurance to the appropriate level. None acceptance by the buyer of additional insurance renders the buyer liable for any loss above £36.
Any other form of postage requested by buyer will be at the full responsibility of the buyer once posted.
In keeping with a good ebay experience I expect payment to be made within hours of closing, and my 2 days to pay condition is real. If you ignore this settlement period, and you get a non-payment default notice from me it means that you have lost your purchase to someone who can settle immediately, or I have decided to relist or otherwise dispose of.
Happy bidding on these fine classics, you will not be disappointed.
