REVIEW: Oscar Sulley was born in Ghana, West Africa in 1937. He earned his Master Of Music degree at the University Of Nairobi in 1960. He studied at the institute for Deutsche Musik in Bremen, Germany from 1961-1962, and later received a certificate in composing and arranging from the Berklee School Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1963-1972, Mr. Sulley organized and directed the Black Star Line Band in Ghana, The Wachamba Quartet and African Five in Bremen, West Germany, and the Tony Benson Sextette of Lagos, Nigeria. He has written extensively for the Ghana Broadcasting Company and Ghana Film Corporation and for various African recording companies. Between 1973 until May, 1977 Mr. Sulley lectured and performed his music at Indiana State University, University Of Michigan, DePauw University, Northern Illinois University, Indiana University, numerous mid-western elementary and secondary schools, and the University Of Illinois, Urbana. Oscar Sulley's exciting music reflects the present-day interaction between the cultures of West Africa and the USA. - Original LP Liner Notes
