This famous 1959 jazz session comes to you courtesy of the genius of Oscar Peterson on piano, Ray Brown on bass, and Ed Thigpen on drums.

That these fellows take on the core of Kern’s work and make it uniquely their own must be witnessed to be truly appreciated. (My words fall way short.)

Great interpretations of I WON’T DANCE, A FINE ROMANCE, LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY, SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES, THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT, and CAN’T HELP LOVIN’ THAT MAN, among others.

This is the best pressing available of the affair, the Japanese Verve, here in a cover with a slightly crumpled corner and a cut; record within will play near mint. (I dare say, the platter looks brand new.)
